This basement renovation included the bathroom/laundry room. Freshly painted, the white washer and dryer, along with the cabinetry, go perfectly with the crisp style of checkerboard. The cement floor was smooth but not super level, which is no problem for decoupage! Once finished, it's easy to damp mop clean with no grout line or cracks between tiles to catch dirt.

Think a decoupage floor has to be plain? How about some nice detailing, also in paper, to add a finishing touch to a room. The overall coloring of the paper was tone on tone but I could use any coloring. This was a basement renovation and this flooring resembled the inlaid wood pattern upstairs in the living room.

When we bought our home we had dark wallpaper everywhere - including the upstairs hallway. You could never tell from looking at it that there was as window right in the middle! Here's how we fixed the lighting (and style issue...

By far the best room in the house our sunroom had potential from the start. Three out of four walls boast huge glass windows for perfect spring breezes and stunning views. Pulling up the ugly (and smelly carpet from the previous owner was the first thing we did and then we stained the concrete floors in a warm tuscan gold color. My living room in my current apartment. Inspired by modern/chic decor. I decorated it myself. My inspiration comes from stores such as West Elm, Target, and Crate & Barrel.

70's vintage lacquered rock and pink floral wall paper was chosen by my husband's parents when they owned the old house.
When remodeling the house hallway, they had enough space to also add another half bath to the master.
We would like to combine the two small bathrooms and make it into one large master bathroom.
Such a large project seems so overwhelming, any advise or ideas would be welcomed.

Here is what $1200 can do! ***Still a work in progress, but here's our story***
We remodeled two homes located over 200 miles apart at the time we started this kitchen remodel. BOTH were on a tight budget and with resale in mind, but we invested in some key elements. We transformed this builders' grade oak kitchen with standard vinyl flooring, into a vintage-inspired kitchen with a French twist.
Here are all of the elements:
* Cabinet refacing, using Rust-o-Leum Cabinet Transformations = $149.00
* Stenciled Backsplash, "Springtime in Paris" stencil from Royaldesignstudio.com = $100 stencil
* New Roman shade from SelectBlinds.com
* Drum light from Lumens.com by Elements, grasscloth $267
* Flooring from BestLaminate.net @ $1.99 sq. ft.
(In progress
* Butcher Block Island--IKEA butcher block in oak = $169 each.
We drove 150 miles each way for our butcher block, spliced them together + added a roomy 15" extension. (This added space for 3 more people! - a great entertainment addition!
* Corbels from Architectural Depot (supports for island = $74 ea x2
Some finishing touches are still being added, but we would love to know what you think!

This room is truly a mutt (a combination of an extra guest bedroom as well as a craft table for gift wrapping and card writing. Although it will someday become a nursery we love that we have a designated spot to house all of our wrapping and writing supplies as well as another daybed for sleeping overflow guests. I previously had a lot of color in this room (see other uploads by me but while it looked great,it was hard to relax in after a long day of work.I wanted something that invited a quiet relaxing evening instead,so I toned down the room...I replaced the bright curtains,rug,and pillows and replaced them with more muted ones...

Decoupage is such a versatile process. I really had fun creating a hardwood floor look with Kraft paper and paint. The client wanted the whitewashed look but also wanted some variation in the color from plank to plank so it looked more natural. The paper "planks" are butted up against each other so it is super smooth, no wrinkles either. A satin sealer gives the sheen of a real hardwood floor.
