  • Contemporary Family Room, This is a contemporary family room/exercise area that we recently built in our unfinished basement. There is only one exterior window in this area. To give it an above ground feel, we added acrylic block windows with lighting behind each that run the entire length of one wall. An acrylic block window was also added to one of the angled walls as well as behind a built in bookcase. To the right of the stairs is an exercise area large enough to hold a bike, treadmill and weight machine. Twenty inch ceramic tile was used on the floor in the family room followed by a wide plank floating hardwood floor in the exercise area. As you can see, all of the furnishings are contemporay from the pool table and the light above it to the seating, art and various accents., Basements Design

  • Happy Colorful Kid's Playroom, When we moved to our new house almost 2 years ago, we knew our daughter then almost 2 year old soon would need fun, happy and child-friendly playroom so that her friends from new neighborhood can also enjoy in comfortable, safe and inviting environment.

Before she was born, we owned Morish Tile Rug in clementine/ivory from Pottery Barn and we liked the happy chic color, pattern and comfy texture. Also, we would always get great compliments from our friends and family. It was perfect inspiration start off with.

We had our challenges though. Previous owner of our house transformed this room from a garage to a den. If you were to enter this room, you had to go down a step from livingroom. We wanted to provide hassle free passage way for young little feet. Frequent visits from one room to another should be effortless. Thanks to my father-in-law, a carpenter, he put together brand new oak flooring to match the floor level to living room for safe access and gave fresh paint(Behr, Herbal Mist) to walls so it's bright and inviting.

We are really satisfied that the room is now an age appropriate, colorful and fun space for our 3 year old daughter where she gets to learn, play and inspired every single day.

  • Modern Traditional Living Room / Family Room, We styled this living room-family room for function, serenity and organization. A full wall of built-in bookcases and a bar gave us lots to work with. The open floor plan and huge windows add light and the feeling of lots of space. The sectional sofa and coffee table are from Room and Board, the rug is from West Elm, and the bar stools were found on-line at Target. Pottery Barn ikat pillows add a pop of color., Living Rooms Design

  • Refurbishing grandma's bookcase, I inherited my great-grandma's old bookcase a few years ago. It was in decent structural condition but was pretty ugly, and it took me a long time to mess with it because of the sentimental value. However, I cleaned it up, sanded it down and painted it, added new knobs for the top drawer...and viola! I love it! And I'm pretty sure my grandma won't mind. , Other Spaces Design

  • Modified IKEA bookcases, We've wanted to build-in book storage for some time and searched crags list for used bookcases that I could piece together and trim out to give a unified built-in feel. I gave up on craigslist (or just ready to get the project done) and purchased three all-wood IKEA bookshelves. 2 large and 1 small in the middle. I attached them all to the wall and sturdied them to one another and added trim and detail of shelf across the hallway door. , Living Rooms Design
