  • Restful places, This space was a bedroom. The house was completely gutted and rebuilt. The soft beige and wide white trim balances off the floor and the hand hume beams on the ceiling. With all the light that flows in, it makes this bath is extremely comfortable. I used old metal buttons on the curtain to create bunched look. , Bathrooms Design

  • Master Bedroom, This master bedroom was done for a close friend. The Client (my friend) was on a very tight budget so I rolled up my sleeves and we made many of the items you see in the room. The head board we made and tufted. Cost, @ $100.00 (note: if you are going to go to the trouble of tufting, be sure it can be seen when the bad is made) The bed coverings, coverlet and shames, I sewed from free scraps from a local custom bedding maker. Cost: $0.00. I sewed every pillow and wove ribbon to made the bolster pillow. Cost: @ $50.00 with pillow forms. (note: running on a tight budget, purchase cheap king size bed pillows from a budget store like Big Lots and after you have separated the filling sew two lines down the middle about 1” apart, cut between the stitching and you have two pillows forms for about $2.50 each.). I wanted art work in the space that had just a pinch of color, I love the work of Laurie Maitland so I used her work as inspiration for this piece. The frame was on clearance so total for art @$100.00. Stools were purchased on clearance and the art over the bed was 4” slats of thin wood that were cut, woven and spray painted black. The lamps, clearance from a big box department store. And lastly the night stands, I designed, were made by a local wood worker who did it as a hobby, for $125.00 each. Well you can see we did not spend a lot of money for a high impact room. The key to this successful design is the color palette was kept simple.

  • Living in work space, NEED a kitchen, I rent a large space in Detroit for a minimal amount, with an "as is" month to month lease. I hope to actually purchase the building at some point, but now, I need a kitchen as I love food and need a place to cook and be comfortable with such. I have already started to get ready to strip the floor to allow for an epoxy coat and I just recently decided on the colors that I am going to use in there. I have made a video do describe what is going on. I will post another video when I am done, Kitchens Design

  • Big walls, no ideas, I have a huge dining room with big walls and open space but have no idea how to decorate. This room is the center of the house and leads right into an open upstairs hallway. I find these large walls intimidating and therefore they remain open and white. Any ideas would be most helpful. , Dining Rooms Design

  • Pink living room w/oodles of glass real estate, Kinda cool but older mismatched furniture, lots of space, well-done ceiling makes a statement. Not conducive of entertaining or even for watching TV (unless we got a larger TV). How can we arrange the seating to see each other and the TV without straining, maybe even talk to people in the kitchen? May be able to bring furniture in from other rooms. The addition with all the windows is a sextagonal shape attached to a rectangle., Living Rooms Design
