Creative use of 4 foot tall crawl/storage space. Formerly our storage - area you have to climb up and in to get into. I needed a studio space. Living in the city and abutted by other buildings...there was no where else to look for extra space! So with 4 feet of unimpeded head room (5 feet between floor joists – I can stand up straight!...my hobbit hole studio space was created! It has a window, running water, electricity, lights, storage between heating ducts, my bench, work surfaces, anvil, kiln, tools....and all seats on wheels so you don't have to stand very often! You can roll from station to station! Just remember to climb up and crawl in! Believe it or not - it works really well!

We found this Teak large dining table and bench, and fell in love with them. The natural wood tone set the atmosphere of the room, I chose rustic style lighting and modern yet timeless style chairs and decor. a bit of colors with drapes and accent wall around the big window overlooking our small but cozy retreat backyard.

We bumped a little bit of space out of our famiy room into the garage (3' x 6' and made a fun built in corner desk with shelving and a storage bench with a cushion for reading. It has bead board backed shelves and art style walls (salon walls with photos I've taken and objects that have meaning to our family.

I do art work so created an outdoor garden effect in my bedroom. The bedskirt is made of curtains bought at a yard sale and sewn together for a pretty lacy effect.

We have a cool, shady spot between two trees that we decided to make into a relaxing sitting area. Here in Southwest Florida, gusty thunderstorms pop up daily in the summer, so the furniture had to be sturdy so it wouldn't blow into the canal. We chose a heavy log bench from Home Depot, and a concrete table that is stained and textured to look like a log. Added some flowers too, so we have a pretty place to sit and look out over the canal.

My entryway is a spare 4' x 6' and opens directly into the living room. The challenge is to find pieces small enough to fit, yet interesting and colorful enough to make the space interesting.

This space reveals that creative recycling can produce very attractive results. Almost every feature that helps to decorate this space was a recycling project. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a useful and comfortable patio space.

A lush and spacious backyard graced with large queen palms, mature sago palms, and silhoette lighting creates a cozy spot for evening relaxtion. A small patio, filled with Tuscan style furnishings create a warm place to sit and enjoy family and friends. A chinese maple tree, wrought iron bench, and wrought iron trellis covered with flowering vines creates a soothing sitting space for early morning relaxation. Pots filled with succulents and flowering plants add a bit of color. More pots and a water feature will be added in the near future.

Our dining room is small but has lots of light with 2 walls of windows. It is a cheerful spot, really my favorite in our house. It looked pretty plain and needed an update.

My sad entry was sparse and shabby. That is until I gave it a complete overhaul by stripping, staining and painting the staircase and adding board and batten.
