  • From Drab to Fab ...Our Backyard Oasis, We purchased our first new home back in November and everything was perfect...except for the yard. The deck was a great size to entertain, however it had not been treated or stained in years. It looked weathered, gray and was splintering. We had a limited budget and watched countless episodes of Yard Crashers for tons of great ideas. We wanted to create an oasis where we could relax and entertain and feel like we were at a tropical resort!, Patios & Decks Design

  • Kitchen Rock Make-Over, One of the last frontiers in our home design effort - and one of the most costly. It started out as we found it from the builder with 10-year old appliances and a high-quality but dated tile counter top.

We started by replacing the appliances - the oven/microwave combo was replaced with a double convection oven. The refrigerator was updated with stainless, over and under design. The dishwasher with a simple stainless steel front and concealed controls. The sink went from a double-well salmon-colored porcelain to a large single well stainless, with updated faucet.

Finishing off the first round of updates was the removal (agggh!) of the ceramic tile countertop and installation of black galaxy granite.

Oh yes, we replaced the electric cooktop with gas, and added another cabinet unit on the center island to conceal the trash and recycle bins and extend the workspace for an extra set of burners and counter space.

All that's left is paint for the small remaining wall spaces....

The reason for adding this page is to get some ideas about colors for the wall. We're playing around with a brick-red, a green bordering on gray, a bronze..., Kitchens Design

  • Wanted: Warm, Romantic Outdoor Patio Living Space, This it our backyard patio that is just outside our living room. It can easily be viewed from the living room through the 12'-wide wall of glass and slider that separates the living room from the patio. Since the patio is right there "in your face" (from the living room), we want the patio to look like an extension of the house--like a large, inviting family room that pulls people in encouraging them to sit, relax and enjoy. Instead we have this cold, uninviting patio that we almost never use. It's so unappealing that I hung velvet drapes over the 12'-wide wall of glass in my living room so I wouldn't have to look at it. Please help me create a warm and romantic outdoor living space that my family and friends can enjoy year-round and allow me to remove the current velvet barrier once and for all!, Patios & Decks Design

  • Comfortable Eat In Kitchen, Our home is 100+ years old. We remodeled the entire house over the course of 3 years. We recently completed the kitchen using Sherwin-Williams Latte on the walls. We assembled and installed RTA Mocha cabinets from Lily Ann Cabinets. We selected Wilsonart HD River Gemstone laminate countertops in the kitchen and pantry. We installed SwiftLock Plus EastPort Oak Auburn Laminate Flooring from Lowes through the pantry, kitchen, and dining rooom. I love my new space I would still love to some accessorizing. We just finished painting and haven't had a chance to shop though. I have been using a vineyard decor with the items I have purchased so far. If you have suggestions I would be happy to hear them., Kitchens Design
