When my husband and I found out we were having a little girl, my wheels immediately started spinning and construction began! I have always loved wainscot, so that was the first DIY project my husband tackled. I maximized space by setting the armoire caddy-corner with a changing station to the left and the crib directly on the opposing wall. The glider and ottoman is also caddy corner next to the changing station. I found an antique mahogany two-tier table with scallop edging from Craigslist -$50- and refinished it in a black pearl stain with gold etching and tulip flowers with the letter M for Baby Madison. The picture-in-picture was a design inspiration that my mom found in an interior decor magazine. We replicated the idea, wallpapering each of the inside panels bordered with molding, and placed vintage pictures that have been with my family for several years. On the 'changing station' wall, the other two picture-in-pictures have wired vintage figures of a manikin silhouette and Eiffel tower for that Parisian flare. My mother-in-law made all the bedding, drapery, and diaper hanging sack from fabric we picked out a local fabric warehouse in Buena Park, CA. The crib cornice and curtain tie backs were a great find at the Princess Canopy Shop on Etsy. They are stained in black pearl with brass/gold etching. My husband designed the M font and worked with an online wood-work company to produce the finished product at a greatly reduced price -under $40-. I bought the hanging chandelier on closeout with black shades and matching pink bows were tied using the leftover pink satin bedding fabric. The furniture is by Munire, purchased at USA Baby and the lamp was purchased on clearance at Tuesday Morning -$50-. I shopped around for the rug after finding that on an interior design website, I bought it for 50% less than retail from BoldRugs.com after they price matched another competitors price. The crib mobile was purchased on target.com.

This garden was dominated by a large "T Shaped" driveway that overpowered the space. Looking from the windows all you could see was cars and little spaces of lawn crisscrossed with cracked and uneven paths. The clients wanted a garden that was sympathetic to the English architecture of their home but they also wanted it wired an equipped for the demands of their "connected" lives. Every space is wired with multiple outdoor outlets and has WIFI capability.

Living Room/Kitchen combination. 20 ft. loft ceilings, lots of windows, loft overlooking living room, fireplace, lots of great light for plants, walks out to 1300 sq. ft cedar deck with built in hot tub. House is 7 years old, original owners never finished installing baseboard as well as installing AWFUL green tile in kitchen, cheap MAUVE carpet, painted all trim MAUVE, and cheap laminate counter tops. For several years this home was used as a rental and it looks it! My furnishings are nothing to write home about and the walls have no color so this is a room(s crying out for a chance to show how amazing it could be! I have absolutely NO sense of style and/or color and this house could be sooo awesome!! PLEASE help us! Any ideas for improvement or comments (positive or negative are welcome!

This is the pergola that I made for my mother, Lela Marie, who loved flowers and gardening. I am 63 and I built this pergola by myself and it was not a kit. I built and designed it as I went along. I built it from presure treated lumber and painted it to match my home. My husband told me not to build it but at 63 I don't think anyone should tell you what you can and cannot do so I went outside and started digging holes for my post and my husband came outside and ask me what I was doing and I told him that I was going to build the pergola that he told me not to build. He made no comment but he likes it now. I wired the lanterns for electricity and put lights around the bottom edge under the wood of the pergola and it looks great at night. I built the picket fence three years ago when I started my garden. My sisters all came up to see me in Elgin, IL. from Indiana the first week of August. The mirrors in the pergola reflect the flowers, blue water fountain and window boxes on the othe side of the pergola. The watering can fountain looks like it is really watering the flowers. There is a sign at the other end of the pergola that reads: "Just Another Day In Paradise". That is just how I feel. My flag picture is to show that I am proud to be an American and to show respect for all those that have fought for our freedom. I hope you like my work and may everyone have a great year.
