We took the backyard corner and turned it into a beautiful focal point.....nothing but grass and dirt was turned into a beautiful eating, resting, and gathering space.

Gardens are such magical and enchanting places, ever changing (even on a daily basis and improving with every passing year.
I don't have a massive garden but a fair sized suburban London backyard space, which I have packed with plants and created many paths throughout the garden to give a sense of journey, mystery and an element of discovery.
I am normally drawn to architectural and foliage plants with interesting leaf colour and texture. But this year I was inspired by a documentary named "Bees, butterflies and blooms" by Sara Raven and have added lots of flowering plants especially the single flowers rich in pollen and nectar to attract a variety of pollinating insects. Now that the garden is in bloom, there is a buzz in my garden that I have never noticed before. The garden is now truly alive with the gentle hum and buzz of bees and hover flies and fluttering of butterflies from flower to flower. It has also helped attract all manner of beneficial critters which keep the lil beasties in check too. The garden just provides endless hours of enjoyment and relaxation.
Gardening can be a very solitary business but in fact your never really alone. All I can say is whoever has a garden and is involved in it is truly blessed. Where would I be without a garden to plant my dreams.

My parents have a 16 room two story home which has been featured in every magazine imaginable. My mom was the talent behind the design. She passed away in 2008 and my twin sister and I keep her gardens alive. We give tours throughout the year as my mom's legacy lives on.

Finally we have our beautiful cedar deck completed. It really adds to our home by offering us extended living space directly accessed through the double french doors both in the kitchen and the dining room. We wanted to create a space that welcomed visitors as well as brought back memories of two of our favorite destinations, Sardinia, Italy and South Beach. We are thrilled with the results and have already had the opportunity to host friends here.

It has taken me over 15 years to finally say it is done!!! It has been a labor of love and I have executed all the work, from tearing down a wall, refinishing wood, faux painting, making the moorish tiles, designing pieces such as the dining room table and some upholstering (the easy kind, and gardening....Through this journey I have been collecting art and finding furniture of the right proportions, so I can maximise the 1100 sq. ft space, as well as strategically placing mirrors to visually expand the size of the room and show my art collection. Many of the pieces I have acquired at estate sales, garage sales, flea markets and even from dumpsters.....Yes, I also do dumpster diving, if necessary....I have given new life to many of the pieces I own, and it is a source of joy and pride, for it clearly shows that one can create a great space without spending thousands of dollars... My home is an expression of my interest in art , travel and history; everything seems to mingle and get along, and every object has an interesting story that I like sharing with my guests, such is the one about the sofa which I rescued from next a dumpster where it had been for 3 days!! I refinished the beautiful wood carving and had it professionally recovered....The columns are PVC piping which I topped with capitals and gave it a green serpentine marble finish....I designed the balcony incorporating an old wrought iron window I got as a gift, and added the spindlers which I painted in black, ivory and gold....The doors are plain hollow core doors that I painted to make them different, and hide the sound system...I just want the music, and to allow the curious eye wonder around...There are so many fun stories!! Enjoy my dream, and know that you can also do it....I did!!

June brings a promise of abundant blooms. The pictures uploaded in this file are mostly plants just about to break from bud or have just started to flower. Just a teaser of what is to come in a few weeks time. I will be uploading the pictures of all aspects of the garden once majority of the plants of this season are in full bloom.

I am so lucky to have my husband! He built this pergola with remote outdoor fan and outdoor kitchen for our wedding anniverary! This was his first time building an outdoor kitchen and I think he did a great job!! We wil be tiling the concrete one of these days and getting new patio furniture.Looking forward to listing all of the other projects he has done around the house...there isn't anything I can think of that he can't do.

This patio has been the designated eating, dance, social area. I want to create permanent shade, hacienda style hardscaping, open and connect right side to the useless concrete area. Husband doesn't want perm shade, and contractor want's to use same materials as pool, bbq & bench. Idea's greatly appreciated!

This past summer we built a roof over our patio and an outdoor kitchen using a "receptionist desk" that we bought at an auction several years ago. It had this great granite top and was the perfect shape to work with. We did all of the mason and tile work ourselves and are so happy with the results. We are on a tight budget so we have to be creative and do the labor ourselves. I love it!!!
