After 8 years in our new home we finally redid our backyard. And we decided to go "all in" and get it done all at once.

We built this deck while building our house. I worked on it while I had the daylight the worked on the inside of the house. This deck is made from TREX. It is approximately 1,100 to 1,200 sq ft. I built a some 30 ft radius steps. Also we built an outdoor kitchen on the deck. There is a sunken hot tub also. In the future, hopefully this summer we want to build a pergola.

I have only done small things to the front of my home but I really don't like it? Painted the deck (needs to be replaced. Thought of cutting down the shrubs and messy trees by the deck and adding a trellis over the deck? Does anyone have ideas of what I could do?

This is a deck my son-in-law designed and he and I built. It has tile for the deck surface, PVC railing, a hip roof, and a double stair case. It is still under construction, but I have the 4" recessed lights and the 3 ceiling fans and the fiuntian pump for the patio that will be at the bottom of the stairs.

This is my roof deck in Philadelphia, PA. I wanted a space that I could actually grow veggies and such but still use it as an entertaining space, this is the result.

We purchased our first new home back in November and everything was perfect...except for the yard. The deck was a great size to entertain, however it had not been treated or stained in years. It looked weathered, gray and was splintering. We had a limited budget and watched countless episodes of Yard Crashers for tons of great ideas. We wanted to create an oasis where we could relax and entertain and feel like we were at a tropical resort!

I'm blessed with a rather large garage top deck for the City of Chicago. Unfortunately, it's in an alley of electrical wires, parked cars, garbage cans and lots of neighbors across the way. So for phase #1 of designing my oasis in the city I blocked as much of the bad as I could and created a little visual interest with walls and a pergola and some fun lighting for evening get togethers. And I did the best I could to "frame the sky!" I will save money over the winter to do phase two of the project including a hot tub under the pergola, a fire pit, new furniture, a water feature and plants. Phase three of the project (outdoor kitchen will come at a future date (unless I win the lotto sooner!!
