This area is finished for a while. I toyed with the idea of all white and cream furnishings, and whole new style. Since I have two grandkids, and one possible in the works, I've decided that chocolate brown feels more forgiving and less stressful to live with. I think this is it for a while aside from a couple of art prints that I'm waiting for to arrive in the mail.

When we bought our first house our living room was traditional (white walls carpet and didn't have much pizzazz. After about a year my husband and I updated the look...and we're not done yet. Check it out and let us know what you think!

My husband found this red couch. I started from there and found a soft yellow color for the walls. Eventually, I will convince my husband to repaint the room a slightly deeper yellow. I think it would be warmer with less contrast. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. Do you think it's too many dark colors? I realize red is a bold color choice for furniture. Although I'm not sure this couch screams ME I do like it and would love to read what you think is and isn't working in my space.

This living room has bright yellow walls and the adjacent dining room is a deep periwinkle blue. I need some help decorating around my sofa and need wall decor help. I THINK I'm leaning towards Cottage/Cape Cod feel but with a contemporary twist???I like red black and white accents.I'm really up for anything! Please comment!Thank you very much!

This formal living room was empty when I started. The living room and dining room flow together so I wanted to make sure both rooms had the same colors and feeling. My client loved the white sofas but I knew we needed some small areas of color added to give the space some life.

Here's the latest picture of my living room. I took the advice of Ang 14 and bought a zebra rug. I still need some lighting....Let me know what you all think about the room.

I wanted my living room to be traditional but still feel young a little contemporary and not too stuffy.I have a few IKEA touches here and there. I also did the painting myself above the fireplace directly on the wall.

This is our mostly empty living room. It's fairly large and has at the moment:
- 2 large chocolate brown reclining leather sofas
- a pub table and four chairs
- Cream colored slightly shaggy square area rug
- soon to be 50' flat screen and accompanying credenza (54' L x 22' W x 36' H
There is an extra space (you can see from the layout that I think an upright piano would fit nicely (we are musicians, but it'll be a while until we purchase a piano.
I'd love some suggestions for decor -- curtains/window panels; lighting; mirrors; ANYTHING! Maybe even a plant? Haha.
I'm leaning towards a color palate of -- chocolate/mocha browns with a range of khaki/tan/wheat hues with sage greens and crisp white accents (I have a vision of a white bowl with fake pears in it, lol!
I'd characterize our "style" (not like we have one yet as clean, natural, with maybe a little rustic (we like nice wood grains. I love the POTTERY BARN catalog, just not the price. :
Thanks for your time and advice everyone!

Turned typical white little-girl furniture into colorful, functional, and fun 'TWEEN living space. Painted walls lavender, dresser, tv stand and desk limegreen/purple and underbed storage drawers lavender. Made a colorful, fun rope swing chair for watching TV.

Our living room is full of old furniture, toys, and the walls are full of windows and doors that make the already-tricky-to-arrange room even more confusing. Please! We need help!
