My new little business, Lara Mark Designs, took off with my debut of a sweet baby girl's nursery. With different shades of pinks, lots of flowers, polka dots, stripes and extra special touches, a very special baby girl was welcomed into this world...and she's gonna love her room!

This is my upstairs bathroom designed for my 2 children. I wanted it to be fresh, clean, & reflect the kids. I used cream paint w/whilte chair rall & wainscoting. I purchased a white cabinet for $30 cut off the top & replaced it w/granite & an undermount sink. I found a fun mirror for $8. I purchased the accessories at pottery barn: matching curtain, mat, towels, & plates that I put on the wall for art. I used the same granite from the sink on the windowsill & over the baseboard below. I used fun blue title in the bath & white tile w/fun blue inserts on the floor. In order to fit the towels, I put them on the door & had the door swing out instead of the normal in to create more room. Finally, I used all crome fixtures throughout.

Started out as a real plain jane room. Added 1/4" Cherry plywood with solid trim strips, stained and finished with satin poly. It's my guest room, but I like to 'vacation' in here once in a while in the winter. It's very cozy.

This is our Master Bedroom and Bathroom. When we first began our make-over these rooms were standard builder issue ~ white tile and beige carpet in the bathroom. We became our own contractors and ripped everything down to the studs, went to the slab yard to pick out our marble for our sinks, backsplashes and redesigned tub/shower seat. We decided to stay monochromatic so we went with a stone, which was matte, for the floor and shower walls/floor.
I am so amazed at my husband's tile and woodworking! With not training to speak of he has done this whole project 100% on his own (believe me his career is nowhere close to this field!.
We are now done with all the "bones" of our room and just need the finishing touches. One of my dilemas is deciding if I want a chandelier in the bedroom or "barrel" hanging lamp. Next I need to decide on drapes and rods. I was thinking dupioni silk in a rich gold tone.
Anyone have any suggesitons???

Updated our dining room with changes of wall color, fixture, and added wainscoting. We're considering adding pictures to the wall or adding shelving for wine glasses.

This nursery was a big DIY and turned out great! The artwork is a transportation theme, but can be switched out with anything you like. The wainscoting makes the room feel so finished. More details are at http://janette.drost.ca/2012/03/calebs-nursery/.

By taking out an old closet in the master bedroom we increased the footprint of our master bath and upgraded everything in it. Our double vanity features new "super white" granite countertops, dual 4' medicine cabinets, new cabinetry, and marble tile backsplash. We also now have a 6' jetted tub with an in-line heater, custom marble tile surround, upgraded massaging shower with hand held shower feature and custom niche. We added storage via a 3' deep storage closet and upgraded to an ultra quiet and powerful bath fan and new can lighting on dimmers. Double towel bars, a glass shelf, and custom wainscoting on the wall and tub complete the look.

This is an airy, large, formal dining room with wainscoting, a plate shelf that runs around the entire room, a coal-burning fireplace, great natural light, and outdated wallpaper.

I got tired of looking at a basically empty room painted in builders white. So my husband and I painted, installed wainscoting, moved the new bed in and used one of my best Ebay purchases ever for the bed linens. We were lucky enough to find some coordinating curtains and a lamp at Target. A little paint to a nightstand we found on craigslist and the room was complete!
Thanks everyone for all your comments & suggestions...decided to add a second panel to each window, a pink pillow on the bed and a canvas above the bed.

We took a very small builder basic powder room from boring and ugly to classic and pretty by adding wainscoting, travertine tile, a narrow depth open vanity, and polished chrome accents from Restoration Hardware.

I renovated this bathroom on a $2,400 budget. It was a typical builder grade bathroom with inexpensive fixtures. I purchased new drop-in sinks and oil-rubbed bronze faucets, and used oak flooring for the countertop. I painted the existing vanity, had hidden electrical outlets installed inside (because I dislike cords, designed a ceiling-to-floor jewelry cabinet (behind the door and between-the-studs, and used outdoor wainscoting for the tub decking and backsplash. I purchased the Victorian shutters, and antique swing-away drapery rods, mirror, and light fixtures at flea markets. My make-up is hidden in an antique candy box, and my toiletries are hidden inside an antique glove holder.

This room is essentially a blank canvas. Paired with our "Oak-Covered Kitchen", the room has entirely too much of the same colors of wood and has no pop of color with the boring beige walls. Help us figure out what to do with this outdated space! The furniture is new - we purchased the table and hutch and paired it with some dark chairs we loved, to add some contrast. Now, the walls and windows need our attention and we're at a loss for what to do next!
