This is an airy, large, formal dining room with wainscoting, a plate shelf that runs around the entire room, a coal-burning fireplace, great natural light, and outdated wallpaper.

Bathroom with touches of golden yellow tarnished silver and soft white. Note the wainscoting and gingko wallpaper as well as the new fixtures and warm flooring. Photographs lend a personal touch to the room with its vintage looking accents on the marbled vanity top and mirrors. New light fixture ties the feeling of the room together. New window echoes the warm feeling by having the outside tree color reflected through the embossed glass.

My new house was built in 1940 and the kitchen was redone in the '70s. I bought it two years ago. The vinyl floor and wooden wainscoting are shot the cabinets are stained and the laminate countertop is damaged.I plan to keep the current layout cabinets and appliances.

I went from a traditional 80's floral decor bath of green and pink complete with a red wainscoting below the green flowered wallpaper to a serene black and white Art Deco theme based on a $20 light I purchased from eBay!

We purchased a cast-iron pedestal sink from Habitat for Humanity's Re-Store to replace our existing contractor grade oak vanity. When we removed the vanity, there were no ceramic tiles underneath and there were holes in the drywall behind the counter's side-splash. Three existing floor tiles had to be removed, as they were cut to accommodate the vanity. I highly recommend the Dremmel Multi-Tool for removing grout and existing mortar. Thankfully, the previous owners left extra floor tiles and instead of repairing the drywall, we decided to put up wainscoting. As the pedestal sink had rust around the drain and overflow we had it reglazed. The walls were painted a brighter blue and the vanity light was replaced. We wanted to put either tin or reproduction "tin" tiles on the ceiling but both options were too expensive. So we used Brewster's paintable wallpaper on the ceiling and finished it all off with gunstock colored quarter round, which gives it a very polished look. We are very, very pleased with the outcome.

This is our half bath in the bar area. I faux granite painted the vanity top in here too. It only cost me $19! I just love the shine it adds to the room. It makes this 14yr. old contractor oak vanity seem like a rich granite bathroom sink! The faucets I even painted oil rubbed bronze spray paint. I spray them while they were even attached to the sink. Plastic was just put down around it. I continued my blue glassware collection into here as with the bar area.

Here is our back Hall/Mudroom. We use this space constantly. Our teeny tiny Family Powder Room is also located in this space. We have 2 powder rooms on our main level. There is nothing particularly special about this tiny bathroom but it is cute and functions well!

Dated living room with low light, low ceiling. Knotty pine, dark, tongue-n-groove ceiling, wainscoting of tongue-n-groove ash, and maple flooring. Too much wood and too little light. Paint color is dark to make the wood "fade-away", but makes the room even darker.

My new little business, Lara Mark Designs, took off with my debut of a sweet baby girl's nursery. With different shades of pinks, lots of flowers, polka dots, stripes and extra special touches, a very special baby girl was welcomed into this world...and she's gonna love her room!
