  • UPDATED Small inexpensive changes - richly HUGE impact! You can do it too!, Ours was a typical condo galley kitchen. We've begun our transformation by painting the melomine cabinets and adding a warm venetian plaster to the walls. My husband hand tooled the copper countertop. Now the "fast food" pass through is a usable space! We love antiques and wanted an updated traditional feel with a touch of old world charm. More to come... , Kitchens Design

  • Venetian Inspired Master Bedroom, Our home is over 50 years old and on the smaller side, so we are always remodeling to create some sense of freshness and originality. This master bedroom originally was white with only a small window and small closet. We added a walk-in closet to the space, and then added a 10 x 11 sitting room towards the backyard. This was the same time we expanded the 5 x 8 bathroom to 10 x 11. , Bedrooms Design

  • Moroccan and Arabic Style Dining Nook, I'm nearly complete with my Moroccan / Arabic themed dining room / nook in my home. I have installed the Moroccan Zellige tiles to the right of the sideboard, but the tiles to the left remain to be installed. These are a style called "ARABESQUE" and I really like them, but they are difficult to install as they are hand-made and every one is slightly different in dimension. I made the trim tile from concrete molds and stained them to match the travertine. The window shutters are walnut with mother of pearl inlay and are from Saudi Arabia. I picked up the sideboard in an old dusty warehouse in Sharjah (UAE). Table and chairs were found as a "demo" in Atlanta, GA at an upscale interior decorating store. Mounted on one wall is a neat little rack that looks of Syrian origin, but I actually purchased this from Egypt. The crown molding (and the rest of the crown throughout the entire house) is a foam type molding that comes in a base primer. I utilized 3 different metallic paints with a sponge technique to get a look I call "metallic tortoise shell". I wanted to use authentic tadlekt for the wall with the framed painting hanging on it, but ended up using Venetian Plaster as a suitable substitute. This wall continues through to the living room and took about 3 weeks to get "the look".
I hope you like my dining nook! I will upload more photos of other rooms as I complete them with my Moroccan / Arabic theme., Dining Rooms Design

  • A little bit of Italy in the bathroom! , The walls of this bathroom are covered in Venetian Plaster. Although they have texture they are smooth as marble to the touch and also reflect light in some areas creating some sparkles. I used glass paint for the window for privacy and a subtle touch of color. There are few touches missing to complete this bathroom: A chandelier over the spa frame around the mirror and a plant that can grow with low light!, Bathrooms Design

  • World's Longest Galley Kitchen!, Never wanted a "galley" kitchen, but that's what I ended up with in order to fit all the gadgets I wanted into the space. We even had to steal 4-feet from the garage to make room for the frig/freezer! The rest of the home is "Tuscan", so we carried the rustic theme into the kitchen with vaulted ceiling, beams, Biblical flooring, chiseled stone backsplash, wrought iron chandeliers, and oil-rubbed bronze fixtures. Appliances are Gaggenau frig/freezer, steam/convection ovens, Miele coffee maker., Kitchens Design
