  • Playful Pad, This is a walk-out basement with easy access and wide open view of the backyard. We see a lot of afternoon sunlight through the big windows. It's main seating area is where our kid's and their friends congregate and play pool, Wii, karaoke, etc. The area also doubles as guest quarters when friends and family visit, including a full bathroom, bedroom, and private entrance. My favorite things about the space are the location, functionality and overall size of it. My least favorite things are knowing how to direct the flow of traffic within it and understanding where to go with decorating it., Basements Design

  • Important room, but depressing, Basement box with low ceiling (under 7') and no windows. The floor is terra cotta tile and there is a wood stove at one end. The furnishings are from Africa and Mexico. The room serves as a home gym, TV, reading and hand work room. It is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It is a good place to spend time, except that it is depressing like being in a box with a low lid. Perhaps interesting lighting, paint and better layout could make the room inviting., Basements Design

  • Modern meets cozy, This living room is kid friendly! Clean-up is a breeze, it is modern, yet cozy. The room cost about $ 500.00 to complete if you don't include the biggest pieces, loveseat, coffee and end tables, and two chairs. It has some deco era inspired pieces. It has a glamorous feel considering it was designed with 5 kids in mind. The main wall design was painted. It is contemporary with traditional mixed in. I think. If anyone has suggestions to make it better that would be great!, Living Rooms Design

  • Updated fireplace, please look at last 3 photos and give me input., This is one of the most informal places in our house, our den. It was "done" in 1995 and little has been done since as you can see. I know it needs help but there are so many openings:2 doors on one wall, a door and fireplace on another, the TV on the 3rd, and a large window and built-ins on the 4th. HELP!, Living Rooms Design

  • Help with basement landing area, I have a great space in my basement that is completely finished. About 1800 sq. ft. For the 3 years we have lived here, it only served as a storage space and a cat den. My husband is in Korea and I want to furnish this for him as a surprise when he comes back in June 2013. Ultimately he wants to deck it out as a theater, but in the meantime, it is a great space. I have the larger area as the entertainment area(tv, music etc). But I have this great landing space that I am stuck trying to furnish. Thinking about two couches facing each other with nice tables and other decorations. Though about a pool table. As you can see, I bought a couple of painting to get me started. These flow with the color pallet and style of other area I am already working on. Keeping the colors warm with brown and greens with hints of ox blood. What can I do with this landing area. This will be my husbands area so I don't want it to look like an extension of me and the rest of the house.. , Basements Design
