  • Midnight at the Oasis . . . :), This is our backyard pool that we designed ourselves, complete with spa, grotto, fire pit, and the best vibes ever!

We built the treehouse first (12 years ago), out of reclaimed lumber. Our kids are now 25, 22, 16 and 14 - and they still hang out there sometimes.

Thank you for your kindness!

  • Relaxation by the pool....southern style., My first design and construction challenge that I've accepted solely on my own. Thank God the project is nearing an end. Climbing vines, a bit of trim to complete the columns... etc still to go...but it's coming along.

It has been called a poolhouse, but I don't think that is accurate. Some call it a Cabana, one friend refers to it as a pavillion, another calls it "the structure". It is 11' tall, 12' wide / deep and 34' long / across the front. As you can tell from the picture, the sides are square lattice, the back wall is 10' of lattice and 24' of solid wall with a judges paneling trim finnish and of course a wood / propane fireplace. It has a flat, tin roof with a slight pitch for water run off. The columns are 11.5" square. The small section to the left in the picture was designed with the idea of putting a small bath in, but my father was in an accident and that space is being used for the lift that helps us get him in and out of the pool safely. The drapes are a marine fabric that pull closed when the sun shines directly into the building...which is great because it remains cool and very comfortable on hot summer days. The chandelier is iron, it was handcrafted for my home (a different house) about 15 years ago and has since been in my house in California and now here (a sentimental piece I guess). Unfortunately these pictures don't show it well.

I have to admit. I am a little aprehensive about putting this out there for a critique because I've worked so hard on it (maybe it feels that way because I'm not a builder) but on the other hand, I am open to some great ideas of how I can step it up a bit and take it to it's maximum potential. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Kevin, Pools Design

  • cowboy room, This bed I designed with the old west in mind. Illustrating the closet to look like a turn out shed with my happy smiling horse ready for his owner to come on in and play a spell! I painted the border with cowboy icons and fauxed the wall below the border to add some depth to the wall. The valances were bought. I added the cow print fabric. All artwork is my work. I had a lot of fun!, Boys' Rooms Design

  • A once empty backyard is now the best room of the house, Since the majority of our yard is in the front of the house, the backyard is small and close to neighbors. Our intention was to add living space to the house by tripling the size of the back patio area, and yet maintain a sense of privacy. The result: An intimate courtyard-style garden area that our friends just love to hang out. Its perfect for 2 people, or twenty, and is now everyone's favorite place to be., Patios & Decks Design
