I love modern designs, but I am a traditionalist at heart, so I wanted to find a way to blend the two. I hope you like this red, white, and blue nursery :

I wish I could find a Josh Temple of House Crasher.. Our dean area is layout with limited wall space, One Wall, Another wall with fireplace in center of it, and another wall with just windows facing outdoor patio., Wanting to be able to redo shelvings next fireplace, to be able to place all entertainment units in one place and as if it was made to fit. Like to put lower cabinets and the shelves, with lighting to showcase children accomplishments. also to hide junk.. As you can 52" TV is on wall with wiring hanging down, Thought of placing it over Fireplace or incorporate it into the shelving area

In this 1980's bathroom the gray and beige tile was given an updated look through the application of a modern gray and beige botanical wallpaper. The upper cabinet doors were removed to create open shelving for display and all cabinetry was painted espresso brown. Ethnic art and accessories and a white all-cotton shag rag rug completed the transformation.

This nursery was a big DIY and turned out great! The artwork is a transportation theme, but can be switched out with anything you like. The wainscoting makes the room feel so finished. More details are at http://janette.drost.ca/2012/03/calebs-nursery/.

Small Walk-in closet before and afters. The challenge was to work around an existing none working door in the space. The closet walls were painted gray to add a sense of depth to the closet, and to bring out the tones of the melamine.

I needed to integrate our work life and our personal life together under one roof for both economical reasons as well as convienence sake. We found an open loft area in an industrial part of Brooklyn measuring 646 square feet. We added another 500 square feet by building out a platform loft over half of the space. We wanted to decorate the space in a way that was not only functional for our work, but comfortable for our clients while still feeling like "home". We long to live in the islands one day, therefore we have created a little oasis here in the city until we can make that happen. A small budget forced me to utilize existing and reclaimed items in order to achieve the outcome as it is today. We have only lived in the space for 7 months so it is still a work in progress. I appreciate you taking the time to tour our live / work space and I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do. Your feedback is appreciated. ;-

undergoing a full house remodel two years ago, I wanted lighted shelving to display collected artwork. I designed the layout, searched for low voltage lighting to enhance the collection. These lighted shelves are floor to ceiling. The shelves can be arranged in many configurations and the lights remain attached to the shelves. The shelves were faux painted to match our kitchen cabinets. I love our new home!

Kept things simple - and VERY affordable - with this from-scratch kitchen (someone had stolen everything before the house went on the market, so we got to start fresh. Started with maple cabinets, added the open shelving later. That section is a combo of IKEA shelving, Home Depot bases and a butcher block top from a local company. Ii still have to decide on a color for the non-brick wall... What do you think? Red (at top or light khaki (backsplash area?

I chose three different cabinet colors: Deep cherry chocolate, quarter-sawn autumn oak and deep brick red. The granite is full of movement and depth called copper canyon. My open shelving is by far my favorite design aspect. The wood is oiled walnut planks from the rafters of my grandfathers barn (almost 40 years old!. I had them planed and all we had to do was oil them. I found the some very simple brackets from Van Dykes to hold them up. I change out my pottery and dishes according to the season which is so fun to do! I use everything that is within reach, the higher up, the more for show:- The subway tile back splash is a hand cut, hand glazed crackle in honey. My two sinks are a copper with a brown patina. The bar sink is octagon in shape and the farm house sink is a DREAM for cooking and piling up dishes and bake ware to keep the countertops clear. My life would not be the same without it! I also love how bacteria only lives two hours on it. It's a living sink, so the inside patina changes, rubs off and comes back daily according to the foods we eat. I love the towel bar and it is surviving two children under four with no problem - whew! I had so much fun picking out the cabinet hardware. Each color of cabinet have a different family of knobs/handles, but all are in oil rubbed bronze. We also decided to thicken the island granite to give it a more distinct feel. This space is a favorite among friends and we never leave it when entertaining! My husband, Mom and Dad chimed in for advice. I had a great cabinet designer who did a great job in helping me save $$. Probably the most helpful, chic person is my cousin Tiffany who lives far from me, but we talked a ton on the phone, emailed and I shared pictures with her as the house took shape. It was great to have someone who could help steer me in the right direction and give me confidence in my choices. The colors of the walls pay homage to her! I wish she lived closer:- She rocks - Thank you Tiffany!!!

This drab bathroom was boring when we bought. I'll provide the before and after. We built the shelves, painted the walls and cabinets and then added hardware and accessories. Pretty easy really. The color on the walls is sherwin williams samora silver.

My kitchen is large but divided by a wall that is concealing a rustic brick chiminey. Part of the division is my stove, so the back shows. One side is the kitchen work space the other is the dark office area. I can picture a large island in the middle flowing off the uncovered chiminey. There is space behhind it to walk around. I don't need an office, I'd rather have one cohesive kitchen. There is a large eat in area with a wall of windows. It has so much potential. I envision carriage house/farmhouse style with concrete counters and apron front sink.
