  • Tranquility - My piece of Heaven, A garden oasis on a typical small suburban lot. Other than grass and one big maple in the backyard there was no landscaping when I bought the house brand new in October of 2000. I'm proud to say that I planted every tree and created all the garden beds. I did all the work by myself except for the hardscaping. In 2002 my garden was featured in a garden tour to raise money for abused women. The shade garden under my raised deck was a huge hit. , Gardens Design

  • Secret Garden New York City - Yorkville, This garden is my private backyard in a New York City rental apartment. When I first moved in six years ago, it was overgrown with ivy and 8 foot tall milk-weed and maybe a hosta or two. It had been neglected for at least 5-10 years. Notice the faux finished brick retaining wall - it has come a long way from its original state., Gardens Design

  • Texas Shade Garden, Making the Most of Neighbor's Bamboo, My neighbor's bamboo and surrounding trees prevented sunlight from an entire corner of my backyard. It's next to impossible to control bamboo and I didn't want to be a bad neighbor so rather than say anything I made the best of an unsightly situation. It's still a work in progress but this is our solution. A shade garden. , Gardens Design

  • Bathtub water feature/garden, This space is directly behind my covered back porch. I was tired of looking at the trees and thought of using an old bathtub as a water feature. Have great oak trees, so seemed like a natural spot for a shade garden to highlight the water feature and a cool space to enjoy nature! There are 7 goldfish in the tub and they're fun to watch., Gardens Design

  • Garden Wedding Site, The front bed is 150 - 200 ft. long and an L-shape. It features MANY peonies and other asst. perennials and shrubs. We live in Kansas in a small rural town of only 350 people. Our home sits on 10 acres. Since our yard is 90% shade it's really quite comfortable in the summer heat. A young couple from here in town will be using our yard as their wedding site mid-August We're getting ready to pour a new front sidewalk., Gardens Design
