UNDER CONSTRUCTION-This was a modern cold cramped and cluttered kid's room shared by our 17 and 6yr old girls. We decided to redo for our youngest so it would be all her decor when the oldest moves out. Any room can look good till you actually use it. The trick is to design so it has the look you want and the storage and organization to make it still look good when you actually live in it. With a child's room this is always a special challenge!

I painted my guest room Newburyport Blue in 2008 before it was part of the Pottery Barn Colors for 2010. I love it especially since I was born in Newburyport. I made the pillows & scalloped valances.

Open for suggestions, I am in the process of turning my garage into a office/sewing/creative space....The garage door is my biggest problem, but I cannot remove it can someone please help me with some ideas to make it blend in with the room...."PLEASE HELP".....

Just finished our master bedroom makeover. This was really a DIY project as I made the bedspread and curtains, husband Jim built the cornice boxes over the windows and together we covered them in batting and fabric matching the bed pillows. We also had to rework the bed frame. Initially the headboard was lower and the 27 inch Euro pillows completely covered the headboard which would not do because it is a really pretty upholstered headboard in a cream twead. So we took the bed apart and added additional wood on to the bottom of the headboard and covered it in fabric we found that matched the existing fabric then re-attached it to the bed frame, this lifted the headboard much higher and now you can see it.
The dark brown fabric on the euro pillows and throw is a faux fur called chocolate swirl. (not sure if I like it hoping it will grow on me The fitted bedspread, cornice fabric and matching smaller pillows are shiny silver with a small amount of gold. I was trying to get a swanky hotel look, but I love Hollywood glam and so some of that is thrown in with it. I know the ceiling fan is a BIG No No but I am sure I am not the only woman that cannot convince her dear husband to replace the summer comfort of a ceiling fan for a chandelier in the interest of added style. I will continue to work on that and perhaps in time will replace the ceiling fan with a nice chandelier. One can only hope!
The lamps are from Pier One, the Bed from Macys, the mirrored night stands are from Home Goods. The dresser had ugly brass pulls; I was able to completely change the look by adding the silver pulls.
I got tons of inspiration from the other Rate My Space postings, hope you all like my pictures and please feel free to critique if you se something I can do to improve the look.

I turned my never-used formal dining room into a sewing room. The furniture is Koala (machine cabinets and Thomasville (shelves. My ironing board is custom made and covered with upholstery fabric that matches the valances. I love antiques, so I worked in storage with antique suitcases, thread cabinets, library cabinets and bins. My buttons are color separated in antique milk bottles on the shelf.

Here's my organized sewing room in my unfinished basement. I used pink embossed pleather (vinyl to cover ugly concrete walls and added cheap pink cotton fabric to disquise exposed pipes.

They foyer/front hall. I've had this blue marbled wallpaper up for a very long time and I am planing on changing it once I find something I like. The stair railing was replaced by my DH 17 years ago the original was wrought iron but not the nice type of today. It was very UGLY. Floor was terazzo but we covered it with oak. Library to the right formal LR to the left family room straight ahead.
