Our home is a 30 year old ranch that lacks personality but we are trying to infuse our own cottage style into it. What's left to do? Install hardwood floors add baseboards door trim and beadboard and work on accessorizing. What you see is a work in progress but it's getting there! We've done all the work ourselves except intalling the brick backsplash but we did grout and paint/age it. We knew nothing about renovating when we moved in- lots of trial and error!

I visit your blog so I have admired your kitchen for a long time and kept those photos in my inspiration folder, just waiting for the opportunity to recreate something similar in our home. Imagine my excitement when I found the brick "tiles" like you used at our local Habitat for Humanity store for just a few dollars a box! I snatched them up and can't wait to get started! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. It gives me hope for infusing our home with character!

I'm so upset that I didn't find your space until after I've already got mine about done. I wanted darker cab and have admire red painted cab. But I had white appliances. Your white countertops ties them together perfectly. The white doesn't appl don't look too harsh at all with the red cab. great work!!! I also added some wood details to my cabinets. Really makes a big difference. I've bookmarked you kitchen for future reference with trim details. Tina
