  • Utila Beach House with Long Living Room, I am enclosing a front porch to make a long living room (12'x 36'). I'm having problems figuring out what furniture to get and how to place it. There are three double doors opening onto the new front porch with a view of the ocean, which I want to take advantage of. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!, Living Rooms Design

  • Rustic Three Season Porch , This three season porch was remodeled because we wanted a porch that could give us a more rustic outdoors look. The architectural stone facing and floor tile made the room for what it is. All the tile was purchased at The Tile Shop (www.tileshop.com). By adding a comfy couch from Pottery Barn (www.potterybarn.com) and a few plants this room has became our favorite place in the house., Porches Design

  • ASKING FOR YOUR HELP PICKING COLORS FOR EXTERIOR!!, My husband and I bought this home in 1998 with our two boys..Since than we have added a completley new roof, soffits, gutters, and are replacing all the windows with colonial grids windows..But also we had someone build on the porch.(which is by far my favorite thing) .The house was built in 1860 than they jacked up the house and added the basement and the entire upper part of the structure in the 1940's... Well now after years of trying to paint this I am ready for vinyl siding..My problem is what colors would look good on this old home???I was thinking of having clapboard or shakes vinyl siding either in the greens, yellows or tans family with almond trim that would look like what is on the bottom windows .. And shutters on the top window.. We are only doing the top above the porch and the two dormers for now ..I may paint the rest of the home next summer..Either the same shade or a complimentary one?? Any advice is appreciated..It is such a hard choice to make.., Home Exterior Design

  • COLOR CHOICE MADE FOR THIS OLD HOME!!, This has been a very tough descision to make..I do not like to pick colors, escpecially when they will be on the home for 30+ yrs hopefully.. The roof we had put on the house in 1999..And it is brown,,(thinking should have been different) anyways, that limits choices of colors..THE COLORS WE PICKED WILL BE A WICKER FOR HOUSE, ALMOND FOR THE TRIM AND TRIM PIECES, AND BLACK SHUTTERS FOR THE TOP WINDOW.And a crown above the window to match the rest of the windows but in almond..IT WILL ONLY BE THE TOP AND THE DORMERS TO BE SIDED RIGHT NOW!Due to money constrants,Baby steps..We picked Mastic Brentwood siding If we do not get to siding next yr..I will paint the other parts..Except the back which definetley needs to be sided..Way to tall.. I will post pics when done.., Home Exterior Design

  • Springtime On My Wrap Around Front Porch!, I love to decorate my porch.I dont do much with it in the winter but let spring hit and my mom and me go crazy!! Always changing things adding things... you never know what we might use to decorate this spot! It is also the perfect place to sit in the evening because the sun sets in the backyard. I couldnt get the camera to take a good photo. IMO these pict's dont show its true "cuteness" but they will give you a general idea. • One big space for two necessary rooms, This is a barn turned home belonging to my dear friends. The wife, Christy, has had a serious illness for the last four years. As you can guess, most of thier income goes for medical treatments. They need ideas that are not only fashoinable and comfortable but are also econimic. The main floor has a large office area and this large room containing both living and kitchen area. As you can see from the pictures, there is a most annoying pole in the center of the space. The kitchen floor area is almost too spacious. Any Ideas? Also the Living area is a bit difficult as there is a beautiful antique wood stove that takes up about 20% of the space. , Living Rooms Design

  • A Wonderful Country Home, This is a 1916 farmhouse- When we tore out a room that abuts the builtin dining room buffet we found a tag from the builder of our home and were able to research a little history. It is a Sears' kit home- we were able to track the home specs and see the original floor plan and price list for all the home options. My! How prices have changed since back then.I like the character this home has with all the details that you don't find in homes today, Home Exterior Design
