We added a 12x18 pergola covered patio off of our indoor dining room so we can enjoy the garden while eating!

The second pergola is down in the garden away from the house. I just posted pics of that one too!

First of all, your outdoor space is very nice. You mention you used heavy canvas for the curtains. Where might one find this type of canvas and how did you get them to hang?

We are trying to buy lumber for our pergola in Arizona. What size were your horizontal support beams? They look beautiful. And whats the size of your vertical beams?

Yours dimensions look similar to our plan... we have to change our up a bit to make it more shady for our brutal 110 degree summers.

This is a beautiful outdoor space. My husband and I are doing a similar pergola. We have torn out our builder grade 10'x10' concrete patio and have created a 14'x18' cobblestone paver patio. We have also sunk the 6"x6" posts for a 10'x12' pergola. The paver patio is almost complete and then we'll start on the pergola. I like your chandelier but what do you do when it rains? Does it affect the electrical components?

Thank y'all so much for your wonderful feedback!!! I am very sorry I haven't commented back to any of you sooner, I didn't realize there were so many comments!!

OK, here are some quick answers:

1. Yes, the pergola was built by scratch.
2. The fabric used is a heavy canvas and they hang from rods made out of wood spindles (no detail and chains.
3. I haven't found any fabric that doesn't attract mold in more shaded places.
4. No, I don't leave the curtains up all year, they get really ratty over the winter, so they come down in the fall.
5. Yes, it is absolutley wonderful to enjoy dinner or entertaining in this space, it was one of the smartest additions we did!
