Your ideas have really come to life. How in the world do you keep ferns alive in N. Alabama in the winter? I've never been able to do that. I absolutely love what you have done. Our house is on a slope down to what could be a beautiful wooded area, first some dead trees need to be removed!! I'm thinking it should keep my husband busy all winter!!!

Gorgeous!! I have a similar side retaining wall on the side of the house and if you wouldn't mind, I'm going to copy your plantings! Had no ideas what to plant in the 2 tier wall, but thanks to you, I've got it all figured out!! I ended up putting my veg. garden there which was alright, but this plan is better! I would never have thought to put a bird bath in there!

I also didn't know what to do in front of the wall because it is kind of narrow like yours and backs up to the woods so I have my husbands work cut out for him in the Spring!!

come check me out on my mediterranean inspired small space patio..it started with a bare 10X30 slab and a bare dirt area that was out in the full sun..the slab had a cover on it when I bought the house..
