Painted black ceiling painted concrete floors sliding corrugated plastic wall panels and steel studs transformed this dingy space into something nice. By painting the ceiling and the floorand using inexpensive materials for the sliding shoji type screens from a sign company we were able to do this for about $2000.00. 4" recessed lights were also added to brighten the large room. Please see the before pictures. We still have a few things left to finish but its a lot better then it was.

Master bed had no fireplace so I made a mantel w/ rotted beam we replaced from deck. made a french cleat, hung it on wall to look at while in bed. used various hooks to hang sweet smelling herbs and costume jelewery. The fan blows around the necklaces just enough to add twinkles to the room. the dried flowers add softness, green, and wonderfull smells, rosemary, lavender, sage! Chest displayed more glass, shells, terrariums. Painted ceiling to cover a stain and distract your eye from the carpet I have yet to rip out!!

With three small children, my husband and I definitely deserve a restful, beautiful room. I created this space to feel sophisticated and elegant without being TOO ornate. The elegance of the furniture is balanced with the simple beauty of the lamps and mirror. My husband has to live in this room, too, so this is a nice balance of feminine and masculine by using black, leather and nail-head trim. The walls are Valspar's "Lighthouse Shadows". The ceiling is "Cream in My Coffee". Since the ceiling is vaulted, we added the molding to "bring the ceiling down" and create a cozier space. Painting the ceiling the same color as the upper wall helped complete this feel.
The bedding was surprisingly purchased at Walmart about 2 years ago. I made the curtains, wall monogram and headboard with a little muscle from hubby. I removed the original "matchy matchy" mirror on the dresser and added this large solid wood one from Homegoods - only $50! Other accessories in the room are from Marshalls, Target, Homegoods, Ross, etc. I successfully convinced my husband to take down the ceiling fan and put up the chandelier instead...bought at Home Depot.
I finally LOVE our bedroom and the feeling it brings us.

This is my kitchen. My husband and I fell in love with these pendant lights and had them installed over the island. Our kitchen does not have much wall space and the color I chose for the walls (teal did not stand out enough (because we have very few walls so we painted the ceiling to match the pendant lights and we just love it!

Some of you requested seeing more than just the one photo I posted of my Dining Room during January. So here are a few more some that include views of the design we painted on the ceiling. I have yet to re-hang our draperies since our storm damage. I'll shoot that and add later. Thanks for your interest.

We bought an old church in Vancouver WA in November 2006 with plans to make it into our home. The original structure dates back to at least 1911 and it was actively used as a church until the 1970s. We've converted the original chapel into our living room / dining room area. The rooms were designed and decorated by us with economy in mind. Please check out our before & after photos. You can see a complete virtual tour of our home at http://www.visualtour.com/show.asp?T=1159418.

My Dinning Room is my favorite room in my condo. I painted the ceiling myself my first attempt at faux painting. I supose I will never be a Michelangelo! My ex-husband would never ever "allow" the beaded lamp shades on the chandelier. First thing I did is hot glue the beading on. I added the crystals from another light fixure I found at a garage sale. I also made the slipcovers for the chairs they were covered in a not so nice pink fabric.

I wanted the master bathroom to be a relaxing and soothing place to be. We installed the french door and iron piece in what was just an opening from the master bedroom. Also took down the Hollywood light fixture and wall to wall mirror..replaced with new light fixture and framed mirrors!

This guest bath (not yet finished is small and had much wasted space with a large tub overwhelming over half the room. It had unusable cabinetry that had water damage and warped shelving that we swapped for a corner vanity. The shower feels like you've just found a cave with the 18x18 inch Tico Taco floor tiles that make it complete with rain shower head unique. For my own flare I had glass tiles installed with glow in the dark centers on the backsplash and in the shower.

My 14 year old daughter was ready for an updated look...She is a bit sophisticated but still likes to have her "stuff". Brown was her color of choice. (Yikes! We used things we already had and I went wild painting the ceiling! The room is actually brighter than the photos indicate. She loves having something unique!
