I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter's nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to "Gray and Yellow" theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl's room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and 'thinking too much'. I think I was able to get to it finally!
I got my inspiration from all the beautiful projects that have been submitted already. I had previously done my son's room, and I also wanted Ayana's room to be as pretty as she herself is.

We wanted to create a very calming spot, that was boyish and childlike, but not too much so. We chose a light blue wall, with white trim, and creams and browns for accent colors.

When we found out that we were having a boy, we started designing the nursery right away. My husband built a ledge around the room for the toy train, and I started picking out bright, stimulating colors. We chose a vehicle theme with trains, construction equipment, trucks, cars, and airplanes. I purchased linens, rugs, pictures, and accessories from a variety of sources in an effort to avoid the theme overpowering the room. Our goal was to have a vibrant, engaging, entertaining, and functional space for our little one. The nursery has transitioned smoothly into a great space for a toddler. Our son loves spending time in his room. In fact, he hates traveling and often asks to go back to his room when he is away.

We live in a very small San Francisco apartment. A one bedroom, 420 square foot space is quite a challenge for 2 people, but now we are ready for 3. We did a lot of online research, and found inspiration through Ohdeedoh and Rate My Space in particular. Because we must share the nursery with our baby, we wanted something that we could sleep with every night. We tried to stick to a color palette to keep things pulled together. A modern palette of Orange, turquoise, gray, white and chocolate brown come together with a nature/ bird theme to make our space livable for baby and parents.

Our baby girl, Charlotte's room is pink and white with green accents and hand painted butterflies and garden swirls. The mobiles and crib set are PBK. I did the painting and my husband and uncle did the beadboard. The chair was given to us and my aunt recovered the cushions and I painted it white. The bench was a yard sale find, and other furniture was my cousins. Reusing is a good way to be green. The paint is from Olympic. All their paints are no VOC.

This space was built for my new little princess it is done in different tones of a lilac. We didnt want to much pink only as a accent color. The chandelier is "mia" from pottery barn cribs. The furniture is by Munire and is called "savannah". The bedding is "camelot" by kids line. The ceiling is blue and ready for white fluffy clouds. The floor is "antique cherry" by dream homes. All of the trim is mdf (very easy to deal with. That is a list of most the stuff i used. The closet was one of my favorites it is yellow which goes very well with the lilac and has stamped two tone lilac butterflys and starfish. well enjoy, it is still a work in progress alot more detail work to be done but right now my time goes to my little one.

This is our nursery for our son who is due any day now. We fell in love with the crib as soon as we saw it and designed the room around it. We were going for a classic Victorian look that was appropriate for a boy.

This is my first child's nursery. It is still a work in progress. The wall paint is an avacado green with espresso furniture. The theme is Jungle animals and my husband also wanted to incorporate learning by adding alphabet cards as a border. Please feel free to rate my space and provide ideas!!

This nursery is a unique take on a girlie glamourous baby room! In a Mt. Ranier blue accented by a bright red raw silk silver leaf and decorative painting make this room stand out! Original etchings framed on the wall as well as a beautiful round crib handpainted changing table and matching upholstered rocking chair/ottoman are a visual treat.

This is baby Isobel's room. I was inspired to create a calm and cute space for our daughter with certain limitations. It's a tight space and we were on a budget. Let me know what you think!

A work in progress... The nursery is for our baby girl Joselyn born on November 2nd 2007. The nusery colors were inspired by the Pottery Barn bedding which I HAD to have. We wanted something girly but not too pink not too frilly and definitely inexpensive. The wall squares were my husband's idea... I designed Joselyn's name and the butterfly collection on the wall. It's cheery and peaceful at the same time!
