Thanks to all the RMSers who have contributed to the effort and a very special thank you to my lovely daughter who was always there to bounce ideas off of and set me straight if I started to veer off the right path!!!! Please join me in some bubbly and strawberries to celebrate.

This powder room is long and narrow! We added white painted large crown moulding and baseboard a new travertine floor and a pedestal sink. The walls are painted red and we used old fashioned looking chrome and porcelin fixtures. Since it's primarily red and white I didn't want it to look like Christmas all year around so I brought in the beige from the veins in the travertine floor and accented with beige and red towels.

My husband I converted this traditional living/dining room combo into a modern chic space. It allows for excellent traffic flow while defining the function of each separate area. Check out the before photos for a true picture of the "transition".

We have decided on a warm gray paint to really add a sophisticated romantic quality to our space. The black-and white decor really is chic and glam and reminds us of a 1940s Hollywood film....

My husband and I have always rented and between his college furniture and mine we have always had a mismatched Master Bedroom. Since we just bought our first home I really wanted a mature bedroom. This is our little romantic getaway.

With this room I took many risks, beginning with the colors. I painted the walls a slate blue/gray and the ceiling dark brown. I had a difficult time finding furniture that I liked, and finally bought a la cart from a catalog. I'm thrilled that it came together the way I'd imagined. I knew it would be a "love it" or "hate it" room, so I hope you like it!

The living room is long and narrow. It's very hard to fit furniture in there properly without wasting a lot of space. Without a way to fix that problem, I at least wanted it to LOOK PRETTY instead of like a dark, grungy, gold cave. I like modern, but a classy, comfy modern. I love hues of blues and grays and they really embody RELAXATION which is what I wanted the space to be - relaxing! The BEFORE (gold was just too garish to be relaxing. I re-faced the fireplace surround with glass mosaic tile called "Santorini" that was left over from our kitchen backsplash. I also created built-in shelving to flank the fireplace to add storage and so the fireplace wasn't just so sad and lonely by itself in the room. To bump up the focal wall even more, I mimicked the mosaic tile from the fireplace by scaling it up and painting the wall behind it. We also ripped out the carpet and continued the espresso-colored hand-scraped hardwood floors from the rest of the house into the living room. Even though the furniture placement is still difficult in the room, at least it looks PRETTY! :

A dining/living space created for a client in lower Manhattan. The goal was to create a feeling of a "cocktail" lounge since the client often entertains their clients during the cocktail hour.

Recently moved in to first home, walls are all white and just painted yesterday a color that would compliment the furniture color. furn is a dark espresso color so we chose a Sherwin Williams Moody Blue for 3 walls and Rain (2 shades lighter like baby blue for the accent wall where the fireplace is. Problem is that it has no contrast when the blinds are open. we want to go darker like a charcoal grey, but unsure. Suggestions totally welcome!
