This is my theater that I converted one of my guest rooms to. It consists of platform/theater seating, a concession stand with fridge and popcorn maker, and a 52" LCD with 7.1 surround sound along with multiple other electronic goodies. I used the closet for the concession area, built a raised platform for seating and a drop down lighted tray ceiling to define the theater area. For the lower part of the columns and tv wall I used wood from a barn lofts floor that was free, all I had to do was cut it up and haul it off. You will notice in the picture that you see no windows, there are two however. I wanted absolute darkness for the theater but did not simply want to just cover them up with draperies. I therefor devised a inner sliding wall system. The light wood panels you see to the right and behind the couch actually slide freely, behind the columns with the sconces, on rails and can be slid to open the window or let in light. The sliding walls also help to deaden the sound since they act as a wall that is not directly attached to the main walls of the home. The columns serve multiple purposes as well; they hold the sconces and surround sound speakers and define the theater area from the walkway and concession area, not to mention hold the drop down ceiling with the recessed lighted tray. Most of the rooms cost comes from the electronics themselves as I did all of the carpentry and finishing work even though I hate doing sheetrock, really its the sanding I hate! I looked like a ghost for several days. For less than 5000 dollars including all the electronics I now have a room that sees just as much use as the kitchen and where everyone wants to come to watch a movie or play video games.
