O.K., now a Doctor friend of mine has asked me to re-model (actually- totally reconstruct - revamp - recombobulate . . . ) his Bonus Room into a Man-Cave home theater with some really cool features.
I took photos of the existing space just incase we really do go through with it. Rest assured, it will be a massive undertaking! The end wall will be covered with a Mission Style cabinet that will hold a 65" "Laser TV" (new technology) and a set of very high quality Main and Center Channel speakers. So good in fact, that we may implement a pair of German made hydraulic actuators and drawer slides to automate the speakers locations.
This would permit the speakers to move precisely to predetermined locations for proper imaging and soundstaging. A feature that is only feasible for the very well healed Audiophile! It is very important though, to get the speaker baffles away from the wall (cabinet facad) so they don't sound boxey and 2 dimensional.
The rest of the walls will be constructed of quarter sawn Oak wainscotting with either Mahogany or Ebony accents. The subwoofers will be placed behind hand carved grills (old fashioned heater grate look.) Custom sconces and LED up lighting will be the only illumination except the dormer type window over the piano on the right wall. 4"x6" false beams will run the length of room (front to back) and we may close the entryway with Mission style, Stained Glass doors.
Lots to do . . . wish me luck!
