This is our newly redecorated living room. We have purple carpet we can't afford to replace so I tried to make the best of it.

since the carpet is purple and it's not going anywhere for a while...why not go for it...add throw pillows and art [agree art needs to be larger] in purple?....you can't fight it so in the meantime make it look like like you planned it that way and work the room around it...the great thing isthe color purple [isn't that a movie?]...matches just about anything...add a third color maybe green [with plants]...and then possibly an area rug with geometric design with blackpurple green ect... just another opinion....good luck...and enjoy the space.

Since the carpeting is dark as well as the furniture I would try to look for throw pillows and artwork with bold geometric patterns. Artwork that comes to mind is posters of Georgia O'Keefe painting because she uses a lot of the colors in your room but infuses bold colors at the same time.

you can also use gold (gold and purple are complimentary colors - see a color wheel for more ideal shades. Good luck and be blesssed

Replace the two small photos on the stair well with one large. You can buy indorr outdoor rugs at a low price $35-50. You could buy a tan with a black accent and it will take away from the carpet and give it a current look. You art should be sort of abstract or plain to make a modern look. Believe it or not you can use red with purple. Have fun.

If you add pillows throws and something large for the coffee table it will make the carpet look deliberate and more chic.maybe one light yellow or white pillow too.
