my couches are new so i wont be covering them

The biggest improvement to get you closer to shabby chic would be to buy white cotton slipcovers for the sofa and loveseat. And yes, return the throw pillows. That's absolutely the first thing I would do. The sofa and loveseat are not shabby chic but could be easily and cost effectively transformed.

I would lose all intense colors, as they make the room seem busy and uncoordinated. Go monochromatic with the whites -- tans, creams, whites, warm greys, etc., much like the lovely painting above the sofa. Keep your teal accents on the very pale, gray/green/blue side, and use them sparingly. The right color will look tan or grey with a hint of blue/green -- soft and understated. Behr paint colors such as Fortress Stone and Dessert Sand are nice for painting wooden accent items, such as an accent table, a tray, a table-top picture frame, etc... Your couch is beautiful, and your wall color is fine. I would keep all the frames on the wall the nice cream color, but get rid of the blue ones, as they look out of place. This way, your walls won't look cluttered. Use small items, such as candle holders, table-top frames and throw pillows for your blues. Paint the dark, bulky coffee table cream or green/grey or replace it with a weathered wood round one. White sheers would look great.

If you do get a rug, that should be the first choice because they're expensive. Then, use rug colors for inspiration for colors in other things, like pillows, accessories, and drapes. If you can paint in this rental, acoid the so-called "accent wall", as it would make the space feel smaller. Instead, paint all the walls, using a color that works with what you do with a rug, drapes, accessories. If you can't paint, change the pale frames, to something that will stand out against the pale walls, again, using the rug and drapes and artwork for inspiration. Good luck.
