Id have to say leave walls alone...living in Florida the past few years I started using warm shades on my rooms, even dark sage...and mustards, but now I am back in New England Im getting back to lancaster whitewash..with dark painted woodwork..(sage,mustard
because thats how the early homes were..unless of course you want to glaze the walls...that looks nice too

Family Room, Our home is an 1879 Victorian. This room is the family gathering room. We can never arrive at a satisfactory furniture arrangement. We have replaced sofas, recliners, etc. six times. We have replaced coffee tables 3 times. We have replaced lamps, lamp stands...everything in this room and we just can't get happy about the furniture arrangements. Any suggestions???? Help! Fireplace re-do do-over, We decided to update the ugly red brick fireplace in our den, but not thrilled with the color choice. I wanted it to blend in with the walls a bit and not absorb light.
