Your room has amazing potential!! Start by hanging ceiling to floor drapes on the outside of the bay window surround (the outside walls . This will give the room some real drama. Add some light toss pillows to the window seat and sofa. In the little corner to the left I would place an accent chair and a half moon table against the wall and hang a tall piece of art work. Again, for drapes behind the sofa hang them high and wide to give the illusion that your window is larger than it is. If you watch TV in this room, you should flip the sofa to face the large wall and place a large entertainment center on the right side of the window and a large piece of artwork and long console table on the left side to balance the wall. Place a sofa table behind the new sofa location and add a couple table lamps and accessories. Add an area rug and large coffee table. Have fun with it, and let this room show off your personality!! I'm not sure what kind of look you'd want to go for. For that window, I'd build a custom bookcase/display unit (floor to ceiling along that wall. A nice window seat could be built into that. I would also try to warm up the space with your paint color and accessories. Since your sofa is already pretty dark, try brighter/lighter accessories to try to break it up a bit.

My first impression is to suggest that you lose the carpet anf install saltillo tile and area rugs. Possibly a plant in the right hand corner and a lamp in the left? And you could dress the sill with a small fabric cloth of some sort and candles?
