I suggest painting your walls a much darker color - chocolate brown. Don't be afraid of going dark! It will add richness and warmth to your room, and the zebra won't seem as shocking. The tv wall needs to be darker as well, but you could do this wall a lighter shade of brown. Also, add some pillows to the sofa - reds will add a pop of color. I like your metal wall art - very pretty and nice colors. But you might need to move it to a different wall in the same room. Lastly, add an area rug to pull all your colors together. An area rug on top of carpet might seem strange, but I've seen it on some HGTV shows where it looked great. Then I finally tried it in my home and I love it! Adding all of these elements to your room will pull everything together. Right now the zebra is shocking since there is nothing else in the room that draws the eye around the room. Will it fit if you turn it vertically? Then try and put a spot light above it to make it more of a focal point...even though it already is. Don't work to draw attention off of it, its huge and detailed so show it off on purpose! I too think making the wall its hung on a deep brown would possibly make it more elegant. Throw some patterned pillows on the couches to help the eye move around the room.

One other thought would be to add some jungle elements to your kids table/play area to tie it in....patterned chair cushions..a collection of smaller jungle art at a level more appropriate to their table and chairs.

That's really something. One way to "tone it down" might be to put a darker paint color on the wall where the zebra skin is....so that it doesn't pop out so much on the light color wall. It might also help to tie it into the room in some other way, because as it is, it's huge and disconnected from anything else in your decor. Other thought was whether it would fit on the second story wall to the side of entry way? Maybe not at eye level, its size woudl not seem as massive. Adding some baskets, or a few African artifacts, tall grass on the ledge MIGHT tie it in.

Do you have a study or an extra bedroom that could be turned into a study? It would look much better in a room with a desk and a nice chair for reading. Perhaps some bookshelves. If it wasn't in a traffic area could it go on the floor? I agree with the other comments. It looks out of place and overpowering in your great room.

The only way that zebra rug might work in any room would be to have it on a floor and then only with furniture such as a coffee table, foot stool, sofa, etc. covering parts of it up. It is way too obtrusive to be hanging on any wall unless it was in a huge hunting lodge with other such decor to which it would then blend in. IMO a chocolate brown would be much to dark. A medium to light rust or persimmon color or even a color in the turquoise/aqua family would be pretty on the walls.

I was just scrolling threw and that on the wall caught my eye.Its way to large for that wall.The wall art should not ever be larger than the sofa and everything else otherwise it dwarfs the room.You have an awesome space to work with but that has to come down.If you are into the whole zebra thing you could accesorize with zebra-african theme items.I love the high ceiling your room could be nice.I know it stinks because you probably paid a lot but let that thing go and start from fresh.Best of luck.

I was going to suggest putting the zebra on the floor but see you can't put it on the floor, although I don't know why. It is way too large for the wall and overpowers the sofa. That was one humongous animal. I agree with the other poster about it almost being disturbing. It does look like a monster about to eat up the entire room. You have to remove it from the wall period. Otherwise no matter what you do to the room, the only thing people will see is Zebrazilla! lol. Are you worried about it getting ruined on the floor because of the kids? I would then roll it up and store it until the kids are older and put it on the floor where it was meant to be. Also you need a coffee table to help ground the seating arrangement.
