I am now in the baby stages of redecorating my living room partly moroccan style and partly "??", which consists of whatever I like at the moment. Still have to eliminate a few things also (like the "man cave' stereo and huge speakers that my ex left behind. I originally planned on purchasing a dark purple/gray sofa and 2 orange chairs and going from there. Most of the "reddish" decor has been taken from my bedroom on a temporary basis, but now I'm starting to like it. But I NEED to buy sofas or chairs or SOMETHING because these leather sofas have just about had it. So, WHAT TO REPLACE SOFAS WITH? And what color?? NEED HELP!!!

mick is right. always go neutral with the big things and change colors via accessories. Unless of course $$ is no issue and when you tire of the orange you can move on. If that's the case, I love the idea of orange and gray. Such a great color combo

mick50, you are WISE!! I was just thinking the same thing. I, originally, wanted to make the sofas themselves my focal point, but with love for 'stuff', I think simple sofas would work better. Thanks so much for your advice! That reassures me to go for it! Will post pics of new sofas soon!!

If you're like me, and your tastes for styles and colors change on a whim, the best thing you can do is buy neutral big pieces of furniture. Sofas are expensive and difficult to replace, but pillows, throws, lamps, rugs, and accent pieces can be switched out easily for an all-new look. Buy good quality off-white, light tan, or pale gray sofas in a simple tailored style - straight arms with removable, washable cushion covers. You will not regret it.
