This is gorgeous and just my style! I like the black lampshades much better. I think they are more dramatic looking and make the whole space feel more modern and unique and the contrast against the side tables and wall color is great.

With such large solid black pieces, I would change the lamps to white bases with shades that match the green pillows, or green bases with white shades - or black w/green. I think this would make the tiny bits of colors on your white tables pop a little bit more without taking away from your base color. Or paint the white tables to match the green pillows and keep the black lamps. Or simply choose a different rug - the tan doesn't really compliment the rest of the colors you have chosen. (IMO Love the pics too!

I really like that you showed us both options, what a great way to get feedback on such a close call. I kept going back and forth but in the end I chose the black. I agree with others that a little white on the shade would help tie it together. Maybe even do a diamond design, like the reverse of your rug.

I almost said the white, but I really like the black better. However, they are just too black. I agree with another poster that the black shades just need a white stripe at the top and bottom, so add a 1/2 inch white grosgrain ribbon to the top and bottom of your black shades and they will be perfect! Just love the baby pics, too!

Whie with the Green of the pillows for shades...☺

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say neither. While each is nice, I think there's enough black in the room and the white is too bland. If you could possibly find a mixed pattern shade, or pick one of the colors from the pillows, that might work. JMHO.

Hey, why not add black and white damask lampshades to give a little flair, and a matching pillow.Black background on white, that will not let it wash out next to the walls in the background.

Another vote for black.
