About This Space

We just finished giving our family room a much needed makeover! The style - Board and Batten. It was a lot of work, we did all of it ourselves, but completely worth it! This room went from a space that I did not like to be in that felt disjointed from the rest of the house, to a space that I could easily spend all day in! I added cardinal points onto our ceiling for a new look! The room now has a slightly nautical feel that we love!

I love this room. It looks so professional. I can't tell weather your furniture is black or brown though. Why I say that is because I am about to move into an apartment of my own and I have a black leather sofa and have some light wood accent and i though wow this is something I could do. Either way with the black or brown, in my opinion it would look nice. Its classic nautical, but a mix of originality and I think it looks great.

What a fun room...it makes me want to go to the shore so badly! I love the couches they add a wonderful comfort and lux. Only thing I'd like to see is some type of paint or treatment to the ceiling so that the inset show up more. I think a very slight silver or gray stain would be beautiful. this has been one of my favorites for a long time!!! i love everything about this space...looks like a page in a magazine!! im thinking of doing the batten in our master bedroom and was wondering if you have any pointers? how far up to go and so on? thanks so much!! and again, what a beautiful room youve created!

i like the room but i think if the ceiling was painted it would be more noticeable. i cant think of what that area in the ceiling is called but thats what im talking about. if that and the area below the crown molding were painted it would pop. right now they blend together. just an idea
