If you can upholster the dining room chairs in the window fabric, the geometric. Accent the table with the green and get a navy/brown rug underneath if you must have one. Skip it if you can.
Also, minimal artwork. No paintings as they are too flat. Maybe get a rustic barn board that will look sort of like a mantle for the long wall and add some pots, metal art, plants and an old funky toy. Now, use a dark countertop in the kitchen and use that same material on a low coffee table. Let the walls have a color but not too dark. Let's say light maple cabs, darker mahogany colored floors, brown, small patterned granite - no swirls. The cushions on the couch should be an all over pattern, maybe an abstract leaf in a navy blue/green/beige palette. Now get some pillows in that green color (let's think apple green, not sage or hunter, let the curtains be a geometric shape like a medium diamond in the beige and coffee colors. Your main color will be navy, a secondary will be brownish and your pops will be apple green. The bookshelves and window seats will be storage and your island will open up the walking lanes between the two rooms while allowing for barstools. Ack! Too much stuff! Clean out your rooms and see what you really have. Maybe take the armoire wall and turn the entire thing into bookshelves with doors. Hide those toys! Now, redo those floors,so they are all the same. Match the new bookshelves with your kitchen cabinets. Take out the peninsula and get an island that will stick your kitchen further into the family room (that's what it is, right?. I'd make the cabs lighter wood and the floors dark. You need crown moulding and less curtain fabric - try just hanging panels. Make sure they don't touch the glass, just touch the edges so the windows appear much larger. If you do not need a table, I would run a long window seat style bench along the window wall. Let the seats be able to flip up for storage. If you make the cushions the right shape, you could use twin-size mattresses and a pile of pillows. If this isn't possible, I'd run two couches along the side walls so that the bookshelf in the back forms a U shape.
