  • Northwest Contemporary Kitchen Remodel, We purchased our outdated 1964 home 10 years ago and have been remodeling it slowly. We recently finished the kitchen/laundry addition. One of the main drawbacks of our home was the fact that there was no laundry room. The washer and dryer were previously located in a small closet off of the main hallway.

After much thought, we decided to include the washer/dryer in the new kitchen area. We'd seen this many times in European homes and decided it would be a good fit for us as well. So far, I've really enjoyed it. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it has been really handy! Also the high counter tops over the washer/dryer makes a great buffet area, easily accessible to the patio area (coming soon...)

By far, the most difficult item for me to pick out was the counter tops. I really love the look of cement but was nervous to use it because it's not as durable. After months of looking at different materials we finally decided on quartz counter tops by Caesarstone in Raven. Hard to tell in the photos, but it's a very soft black/deep gray. We went with stained concrete for my table though and I absolutely LOVE it! In fact, it's my favorite part of the kitchen!

I've spent countless hours both watching HGTV and browsing here on the website getting ideas for the remodel. RATE MY SPACE was the source of much inspiration and I've been looking forward to finally adding my own photos to it :)

Our goal was to create a warm, cozy kitchen area that all four of us could enjoy. Used warm colors to help counter the LONG, gray Oregon days. We're happy with the results!

Thanks for taking a look :)

  • Floor to Ceiling Transformation, Originally, a G-shaped kitchen that basically divided my kitchen in half & only used 1/2 the space. I have totally gutted it, designed a new layout that would utilize the entire space. Created a lot more storage, along with more convenient functions, like pull out drawers, single basin sink & taller faucet. New floor, more lighting that I installed myself. I had a very small budget but I feel I got a "Bang For Your Bucks". And even though I've designed every inch of it and had a pretty good idea of how everything would look, the finished project actually turned out much more beautiful than I ever imagined. This has been a very rewarding experience.

  • Kitchen & Nook, Kitchen opens to nook & living room. When we bought it the walls were the same color as the cabinetry so we revved it up with Ralph Lauren's Barn Red wall paint. I found some vintage shutters and painted them using the same color with some tobacco glaze over them to add a bit more color and give the space a little more personalized feel., Kitchens Design

  • 1940's Cottage Kitchen Make-Over, This 1940's kitchen make-over took the small original galley kitchen and dining room and opened up the two rooms as one large functional eat-in kitchen. With custom made cabinets and a distressed island, the new kitchen is quaint, relaxed, and perfect for entertaining. White subway tiles, a farm house sink, window seat, book shelves, and an old barn door as focal points, this new kitchen is a breath of fresh air. , Kitchens Design

  • Vintage Cottage kitchen, This kitchen used to be dark cherry cabinets UGH! It was so dreary in here and it made me depressed to cook in it. There is no window so that didn't help either. I took off the upper doors to paint and ended up loving it. I like to see my stuff....LOL. , Kitchens Design

  • HGTV RMS Inspiration Room - my new kitchen photos, My kitchen is one of the inspiration rooms on episode #208 of the Rate My Space Show. Thank you Angelo, Jillian and HGTV for choosing my kitchen as an inspiration room. It was quite an honor and a lot of fun being on the show. I renovated my kitchen a couple of years ago. We went from an outdated 1980's kitchen to this. The original kitchen had pickled oak cabinets with white formica countertops. I wish I had taken a "before" picture to show you. The change is remarkable., Kitchens Design

  • distressed european french mural/artwork cabinet whimsical kitchen, In my circa 1923 home the kitchen had been remodeled before I bought it.( I posted before photos at the end) The cabinets and design felt to modern for the house and was not the feeling I was going for in the house. I want people to come in and feel like they are somewhere else than just a decorated house. So, rather than tear the cabinets out and start over I decided to use them and paint distress and make them just fun! 233 hours later.... I smile when I walk into my pink kitchen. I don't think you expect to see a serious stove in such a whimsical space but, it works for me. I used the same colors but much more intense in the laundry and bath room adjoining. check it out. It's not for everyone but it is for me... As a decorative artist most of my jobs are so serious I just need my space playful... I hope some of you enjoy it smile, Kitchens Design

  • 1908 Denver Square Kitchen Remodel, A total kitchen remodel using traditional, east coast elements with a splash of rock and roll. I was on a budget so these are Home Depot cabinets which I had professionally sprayed an alabaster white. The cabinet hardware is from Restoration Hardware. The countertops are Australian Black granite with a matte finish and the cooktop is from Jenn-Air. The backsplash is from Modwalls - stainless steel penny tile. The tile is 16x16 black slate which we cut in half and laid in a brick pattern. A lot of you have have inquired about the wine glass chandeliers; my friend makes them and sells them locally. It comes in 3 tiers or 4 tiers. If you are interested in one, please send an e-mail to bmiller@fullerproperties.com. Thanks for all of your comments and feedback!, Kitchens Design
