Kitchens

  • New Kitchen, Our previous kitchen was an 8x8 cube in the middle of the house. We had a room, 11' x 20' on theback of house that was no longer being used as the kids are almost grown and gone. So I took it for the kitchen. I am super pleased. Cabinets built by Franklin Hudson, Cairo, Ga. Visit his website at http://hudsonshobbyshop.site50.net/wordpress/, Kitchens Design

  • From Painted Paneling to Creamy Bisque, Our house was built in 1977 and when we bought it 20 years ago, the first thing I did was paint all the paneling and the dark walnut cabinets a fresh clean white and change the countertops and appliances from harvest gold to white. Ten years later, I livened things up a bit with the red walls. This year it was time for a total gutting. Everything, including the dumb wall that separated the front door from the dining room (and made moving any big furniture into or out of the house a major problem) was removed. The laundry room door beside the counter with the microwave was moved around the corner to allow more kitchen space. Fridge and oven both moved to right wall. My whole color scheme was based on what color oven to get. I knew I didn't want stainless steel (just a personal aversion), so I either had to go with white or bisque. This decision was forced upon me early as Sear's had a 50% off sale on Kenmore double ovens. I took paint swatches from Lowes to Sears to see exactly what color I would be dealing with in bisque as you know how department store lighting is. I walked around the mall for a couple of hours studying this paint swatch and made my decision: bisque it would be (Waverly Bay Oyster in the paint swatch matched perfectly). Everything else fell into place. The cabinets have a conversion varnish on them tinted to my color. This finish is like an automotive finish - very durable. Countertops are Caesarstone chocolate truffle, and hardware and faucet are oil rubbed bronze. The Kohler smart divide sink is biscuit., Kitchens Design

  • Traditional Cherry with a Modern Twist, I designed these cherry cabinets and had them made by Masters Woodworking. They are topped with black granite counters. The ovens and cooktop are stainless steel. Both the refrigerator and dishwasher have custom fronts that match the cabinetry, including the drawer lines. A couple of my favorite features are the bar that has seating on both sides, which is great for conversations and playing games, and the 32" tv with an appliance garage below. The backsplash is made of 1"x1" glass tiles. My kitchen combines good looks and functionality. The floors are made of 3" Angico wood., Kitchens Design

  • Modern Kitchen, Here's an updated version of my kitchen. I went ahead and added the sconces on the pendants... I found them for 10 bucks a piece! My kitchen itself is small however it's completely open to the living room/dining room so it makes it feel a lot larger and brighter. Plus it's also great for entertaining! Because the living room/dining room are so light and bright the darkness of the kitchen contrasts very nicely., Kitchens Design

  • Embedded Grapes on Range Hood w/Pastry Bag!, Client asked me to give range hood a change that would go with her wine & Grape themed kitchen. I troweled Joint Compound over most of the range hood.... then used a PASTRY BAG filled with Joint compound (watered down a bit) and piped on the grapes vines and leaves (formed using different pastry tips). Let dry overnight then basecoated (carefully around grapes) then did a quick faux finish over top. xoxo, Kitchens Design

  • FINALLY...A NEW KITCHEN, This is my 1945 California Bungelow kitchen/laundry room LONG overdue remodel. Before it had 18" deep counters, a pantry that stuck out into the room, bad lighting and was not open to any other part of the house. It was gutted down to the studs, opened the wall into the livingroom and now feels twice a big., Kitchens Design

  • Copper Quartzite Kitchen Backsplash, This is not my kitchen! I am a designer for a high end tile and carpet company. This is a project that I designed the backsplash for the builder and my husband (he was a tile installer at the time) installed it. The granite is Four Seasons and the backsplash is a slate called copper quartzite. There are handmade grape accents that are a beautiful red color., Kitchens Design
