  • Our Tuscan Inspired Kitchen, We completely remodeled our kitchen in 2007 using a Wolf range wall oven warming drawer & microwave. Subzero fridge wine fridge w/pull out drawers and ice maker. 2 dishwashers. Miele coffee maker (that we love)! No more wasting $$ at Starbucks! It's hard to respond to each question so I am trying to answer here. The paint on the walls is Benjamin Moore Lennox Tan. We had great designers help us with everything., Kitchens Design

  • Calm, Serene Kitchen, Our kitchen used to be so small. We live in Boston so it's not surprising. The pantry and back hallway took all the room and gave us no view of our backyard. We broke the walls down to open it up. The cabinets are painted a greenish gray and the wall is a soft muted brown khaki.

I've always loved the kitchen on the Martha Stewart tv show. Her muted colors make the space so relaxing yet still keeping a vintage style mixed with modern details that blend so well together. I tried to capture that same feeling. I love being in my kitchen now. Our english garden is right outside the french door and I like to have the yard fountain on and hear the sounds through my kitchen., Kitchens Design

I can't however take all of the credit for this remodel. Without my sister-in-law I could not have achieved all of this in 1 week. Thank You could never convey how grateful I am for her help and how much fun I had with her that week. Take a look I have tried to break it down day by day I hope this will inspire you to try this on your own. If you don't have a sister-in-law I rent mine., Kitchens Design

  • Oak Cabinet Kitchen Remodel, When we first bought our house, the kitchen was 10 years old with no life to it. I had a vision that I turned into reality. I painted and glazed my old oak cabinets, added crown molding, hardware, new counters, flooring, back splash, appliances and under cabinet lighting. This kitchen went from drab to fab! It definitely lived up to its potential and it wasn't that expensive to do.

*UPDATE: I have had an enormous amount of comments wanting the directions to this process, so I have included a link to access the directions for those who would like it. Thanks to everyone for your outpouring of praise and support! I can't actually create a link here so you will have to copy this link and paste it in your address bar.

  • Tuscan-inspired Kitchen Renovation on a Budget, Our 1920 house had the original kitchen and an under-used addition, which some call a three season porch, adjacent to it. We began the renovation by replacing the old jalousies with energy efficient windows and door. To help blend the two rooms, our contractor removed as much of the shared wall as possible. The original plan was to take down the entire wall; however, our plan had to be revised when we discovered plumbing inside that wall. Our contractor helped us contain the cost by custom building more kitchen cabinets to match the existing ones. This also gave me lots of additional storage - who doesn't love that! Bead board was installed along the breakfast room wall and at the ends of the cabinets. We had a local artisan make the wrought iron towel bar/pot rack. Recessed lighting was installed in both rooms along with honed "Jerusalem Gold" limestone countertops and "Saltillo" terracotta tiles (set on the diagonal). We visually joined the two spaces by using the same materials and colors throughout. It was a challenge to put a "new" kitchen into an old home. We wanted it to look as if this renovated kitchen was original to the house. Having our contractor custom build more of the old style cabinets helped retain that look. My husband and I have traveled to Tuscany together and were inspired by the earthy colors and rustic textures of that landscape. We kept this in mind when we were making the design choices as we renovated this space. In conclusion, we are pleased with the result., Kitchens Design
