  • Father and Son Get The Job Done, My son recently purchased a fix-me-upper and after 4 months of work and collaboration with my son we were able to transform a 50 year-old home beyond repair to a beautiful modern home. No female influence in this remodel but I always design a space with you ladies in mine. Take a look and let me know what you think., Kitchens Design

  • Brady Bunch Makeover, From 80s dark and drab---( the wallpaper and window treatments matched when we bought it, ugh..) to traditional modern, light and open with a touch of shabby chic. Our kitchen now looks so much more spacious., Kitchens Design

  • Kooky Kitchen Klutter, Renovated my bad 70's kitchen. NO more blue tile nightmare. Used the old cabinets as budget would not allow new. New kitchen may not be some folks taste, but I like a funky eclectic jumble. I painted the floors gloss black, the existing floors were mismatched with the rest of the house. House is 80 years old in New York City suburbs in New Jersey., Kitchens Design

  • Let there be light in the Kitchen!, Nice kitchen, but lay out was all wrong AND way too many cupboards. Time to purge and rejuvinate. The floors were "found" under ceramic, vinyl, and then hardwood. They were only pine, but with the stain we used, I think much richer looken!, Kitchens Design

  • Kitchen Make Over, We baught a 12 yr old house last year and wanted to update the kitchen with a small budget of about $7k (with free labor :) So we decided to keep the cabinets since they were in great shape (even had pull out shelves! :) I know its hard to tell from this pic but we put in travertine backsplash, with a bronze border above the granite, bronze faucet and pulls/knobs, very deep white undermounted sink, replaced the floors (on entire level) and appliances. Still waiting for bull nose to be put in over txgiving break this year. Oh...and one of these days soon I'd really like to get the cabinets stained to an Antique Glaze, like an off white/creamy color but rustic look and distressed? Thoughts??? Would it be too pricey to do that and would I be over spending for the value I've gotten so far? The 3rd pic is an example of what I'd like to have done:, Kitchens Design

  • Fun with Picasso, I wanted to get rid of my oak cabinets but cannot remodel so my latest endeavor (when we first moved in I had painted them a cream color) was painting the cabinets in a rustic zebra wood and a mural that wraps the island. Our counters and back splash are gray concrete with a small stripe of glass tiles. Far from the norm! We love it! I'm now thinking of painting the bottom cabinets black. Any thoughts? The countertops are actually a top coat so they're not poured. No grout to clean. Easy to maintain and very happy with them., Kitchens Design

  • My Everyday Italian..., I was the general on this job. I designed it and oversaw from demo to completion. I was without a kitchen for exactly 7 weeks. The hardwood floors are distressed hickory, the cabinets are custom with a glazed and distressed looked. The granite is Red with orange, black and gray running through it. The backsplash is a tumbled brick and the sink is custom limestone farmhouse., Kitchens Design

  • Boring to Beautiful Kitchen Remodel Before and After, Our original kitchen from the early 90's was okay, but not my style at all. It lacked color and depth. I was very over the hunter green accents. We wanted to create a beautiful traditional space with detail and character that would flow with the rest of the house. I just adore the end result. It was so worth the hard work and patience.

We did some of the work ourselves (The painting, the demo, the new floors, and the back splash.) The rest was done by our contractor.

Our family is really enjoying our new space. Take care! , Kitchens Design

  • Kitchen Reform After the Storm, Our 1884 Victorian kitchen was all washed up, even before Hurricane Ike swept 5 feet of wate into it. Working on a tight budget (with a huge space), we updated the kitchen with two-tone cabinetry, a spectacular faux mantel over the stove (our one splurge), exotic hardwood floors, warm colors and a pop of green to keep it from being stuffy. To help recover from the storm, we rent the house: see, Kitchens Design

  • Painted and glazed cabinets, What do you do when you have quality cabinets but hate the dark color? You paint and glaze them. This small kitchen was perfectly fine but the homeowner wanted a lighter feel. We painted the cabinet and then added new hardware and a glaze for that special touch. I even painted a small table for her daughter that coordinates with her Mackenzie-Childs collection. I only wish that I took a before picture! , Kitchens Design

  • Pottery Barn Style Open Shelving Kitchen- REPOST, Hubby built open shelving in our kitchen with a surround for the fridge. Beadboard accents and baskets give it a cottage feel. We spent about $500 on wood and materials. The lower cabinets are the same maple ones that were there before we simply painted the island (small sink) and the cabinets along the wall black. The center island is painted the same colour as the open shelving but with black granite tile counters. Got the look w/out the price!, Kitchens Design
