Kitchens

  • 3 weeks to AMAZING!, This kitchen was totally outdated. It had the original appliances from the 60's when it was built. I planned this for a year, looking at design magazines, laying it out, to finding the perfect crystal knobs. When it came time to do the kitchen, I wanted it done in 3 weeks- start date 10/3/11 end date 10/28/11., Kitchens Design

  • Classic Traditional Modern Kitchen with Black Cabinets, Our kitchen started out with pale green walls and the cheapest stock oak cabinetry you can buy. We added moulding to the tops of the cabinets and painted them black. We also added a beadboard backsplash and dark chocolate laminate wood floors. There is still plenty of work to do & stainless steel appliances to buy but here's where we are as of today! • Red Painted Cabinets, I finally painted my cabinets red. We still have carerra marble to add, and I need to paint my backsplash back to white (it was glazed green like my cabinets were painted before they went red)...but we are almost done. (for now) :-), Kitchens Design

  • A little time, trim and antiquing glaze..., The rundown...

1. Remove cabinet doors and all hardware...
2. Choose what doors you'd like to add bead board and/or wrought iron inlays to, router out the center and insert...
3. Prime & Paint cabinet frames, doors and trim (baseboards purchased from Lowes).
3. Cut trim to size and attached (w/glue and/or brads) only the vertical trim pieces (to prevent pooling of the glaze).
4. Mix antiquing and clear glaze 1:1 and apply generously.
5. Remove the glaze with damp (water) staining pads in a consistent vertical pattern...
6. Once dry (24 hours), attached the horizontal (top & bottom) trim pieces to the cabinet doors...

Please note: These were builders grade cabinets that opened flush to the frame. Any doors that open back to back will need to be trimmed (to account for the additional 1" you'll be adding with the trim.) Many of these cabinets were altered but no additional cabinetry was purchased. All said and done, I had about $1,000 in paint, glaze, trim and hardware (door handles, knobs, hinges, wrought iron inlays...)

Stain (floors): Ebony (Minwax)
Paint (walls): Burnt Cinder (Behr)

Good Luck!

  • Painted kitchen with wood island, The ceilings are 10' tall so we had the cabinets go all the way up. All of the upper cabinets have lights inside and the boxes were built of alder and stained to match the island. The island has a flush eating ledge to give me a larger prep area. We added a small phone desk with upper glass cabinets across from the nook made use of a very odd space. I did all of the design work and my husband built it he is such a great craftsman!!! • FINALLY...A NEW KITCHEN, This is my 1945 California Bungelow kitchen/laundry room LONG overdue remodel. Before it had 18" deep counters, a pantry that stuck out into the room, bad lighting and was not open to any other part of the house. It was gutted down to the studs, opened the wall into the livingroom and now feels twice a big., Kitchens Design

  • Coastal Inspired Kitchen, We wanted something crisp, fresh and bright to greet us in the morning, so we used lemons as our jumping off point. White cabinets with updated hardware and glass tile keep it modern while the butcher block counters keep it earthy. Our pendant lights are inspired by vintage, coastal industrial lights and the striped curtain reminds us of a cabana., Kitchens Design

  • My Dream Kitchen...2, *** for those that want more info, please email me at :
chriskyoung@yahoo.com

I had all this uploaded, with over 2,000 ratings..and it is just GONE! : (
You can click on the file, but no pics..I have no idea what happened. I hope it works this time....

After looking in magazines, and watching many decorating shows, we finally did our dream kitchen. This is the first home we have ever purchased, as my husband was a Navy pilot. We lived on the Navy base most of his career, or rented. It's nice to finally have something that is all mine. Now that we bought a house, I can have fun making it a " HOME " : )

We just did a complete kitchen remodel...it was done the week before x-mas. Everything was custom done....maple and cherry was used. We chose ivory with a chocolate glaze and chocolate brown with a black glaze. All the lighting is custom...each display shelf is lit, we have under cabinet lighting, and a chandalier over the island. Everything is on dimmers. Our backsplash is a combination of stone and glass. We have a Perrin and Rowe, by Rohl, faucet. We have a Kohler apron sink. Our appliances are paneled, and they are KitchenAid. Our granite is " Giallo Ornamental "...and it has a ogee edge. We have a bar/coffee area. We have double ovens, microwave and warming drawer. Our drawers are all slow close. We have double trash cans that pull out, and a lazy susan. We used oil rubbed bronze for the hardware. We did a pantry/laundry room as well...everything custom there too. We even added a special area for our kitty...for her liter box and water/food bowls. ( she is part of the family too!! )

UPDATE: here are some answers to questions you all asked. The paint color is called Sauteed Mushroom, by Olympic paints. Our flooring is travertine..classic tan. ( done in a french pattern ) . The chandalier over the island is by Golden Lighting, ( # 8606-10 RBZ ) it's oil rubbed bronze.
