  • My fru fru kitchen, I know this is not everyone's cup of tea but the before kitchen had orange cabinets, fake brick, brown paneling and brown appliances. I painted the cabinets white and added the fru fru. It does go with the style of the home which is a small victorian type house. We will be redoing this in a year or two but I still think it's pretty., Kitchens Design

  • ~Kitchen with Black Cabinets~, I just want to first start off that my kitchen is not a $100000 kitchen. We are still working on getting it how we want it. We are about to add a backsplash and would love new countertops.....but the kitchen is only 2 years old. The countertops are serving their purpose. Let me know what you think! http://kelmayrn.blogspot.com/~The floors are stained concrete., Kitchens Design

  • 80's kitchen remodel receives the works-Before and Afters (See family room that's connected.), I'm a professional home stager but my line of work has led to full remodeling projects-fun! This ugly orange and yellow kitchen got a complete overhaul. I know I know stainless appliances are the rage but the clients wanted to keep their white appliances. You can see the other side of this room which is the family room-listed under living room family room (80's remodel)., Kitchens Design

  • Bringing 1965 to 2011, When we first moved in, we had no dishwasher. Back in SF, this was to be expected, but not in Austin, TX. The avocado laminate counters and backsplash weren't cutting it either. We demo'd the existing pantry (new one not pictured) to make room for our fridge. We had to have the fridge!, Kitchens Design

  • michele's new kitchen, We built our new kitchen in our traditional 1980's Marietta home from the walls out. New semi-custom black cabinets, hard wood floors, glass tile, a farm sink and Icestone counter tops were installed. The back splash is a pale green square glass tile that is offset from the row above (like bricks) I found it on clearance at Floor and Decor for 1/2 the price of subway tile. It matched the recycled green wine bottles and oyster shells in the concrete countertops perfectly. , Kitchens Design

  • Painted kitchen with wood island, The ceilings are 10' tall so we had the cabinets go all the way up. All of the upper cabinets have lights inside and the boxes were built of alder and stained to match the island. The island has a flush eating ledge to give me a larger prep area. We added a small phone desk with upper glass cabinets across from the nook made use of a very odd space. I did all of the design work and my husband built it he is such a great craftsman!!! • Tuscan-inspired Kitchen Renovation on a Budget, Our 1920 house had the original kitchen and an under-used addition, which some call a three season porch, adjacent to it. We began the renovation by replacing the old jalousies with energy efficient windows and door. To help blend the two rooms, our contractor removed as much of the shared wall as possible. The original plan was to take down the entire wall; however, our plan had to be revised when we discovered plumbing inside that wall. Our contractor helped us contain the cost by custom building more kitchen cabinets to match the existing ones. This also gave me lots of additional storage - who doesn't love that! Bead board was installed along the breakfast room wall and at the ends of the cabinets. We had a local artisan make the wrought iron towel bar/pot rack. Recessed lighting was installed in both rooms along with honed "Jerusalem Gold" limestone countertops and "Saltillo" terracotta tiles (set on the diagonal). We visually joined the two spaces by using the same materials and colors throughout. It was a challenge to put a "new" kitchen into an old home. We wanted it to look as if this renovated kitchen was original to the house. Having our contractor custom build more of the old style cabinets helped retain that look. My husband and I have traveled to Tuscany together and were inspired by the earthy colors and rustic textures of that landscape. We kept this in mind when we were making the design choices as we renovated this space. In conclusion, we are pleased with the result., Kitchens Design

  • Made Autumn Oak Into Old World, We wanted to do a kitchen remodel with new cabinets, appliances, backsplash, lighting, etc. However, our old oak cabinets were so well made we just couldn't bear the thought of throwing them away and investing $25k on new cabinets. We took the risk of having them professionally painted, glazed and distressed with new hardware. Our cabinet refinishing process was:
Sand and prepare surface
  Caulk gaps and holes
  Backfill oak wood grains
  Paint basecoat
  Sand edges
  Stain edges
  Seal wood
  Glaze over surface

They were professionally painted by:
