  • Amazing Transformation in NC, I still can't believe this is the same kitchen....out with the dark and in with the light!!! Haven't decorated yet....will post more pics once that takes place! The cabinets were built by C&F Custom cabinets in Hope Mills NC...they are painted Off White with a Norris Brown glaze and the island is painted black and lightly distressed. The granite is called Kalahari and the backsplash is Travertino Brick(184996) by Dune. , Kitchens Design

  • Updated pictures with new appliances "What a sander and stain can do to cabinets", be sure to take a look at the hellish before pictures in the previous posting...The cabinets are a cherry...but based on some posts they look black...they're not....I would NEVER refinish cabinets again but this time the hours and hours of stripping and sanding paid off. , Kitchens Design

  • Big & Tall Old World Kitchen, Not too many kitchens have 18' ceilings, and we just couldn't resist this kitchen/great room combo, so we bought one from the builder. We thought the key to making the tall kitchen work was to get the optional upper bank of cabinets, which helps greatly with the scale. The other big choice was countertops, and these are seafoam granite. The only DIY job left was to design and install a tile treatment for the backsplash and around the base of the range hood. These tiles are all from Walker Zanger's Avignon line., Kitchens Design

  • New kitchen for an old home, This was a complete DIY project by my DH and I. We tried to combine old with new and keep the older home 'flavor' in the kitchen. We totally gutted the area, tore out a load bearing wall and put in a supporting LVL between the two rooms. We also put in three sets of french doors leading to the back deck area, it lightened up the kitchen considerably. The beadboard is all new, the stove is a restored 1948 Tappan Deluxe and the hoosier cabinet I use as my free standing pantry area., Kitchens Design

  • The Girls (and 1 man) did it!, This is my daughter's kitchen. The kitchen had awful plywood doors and white vinyl flooring. We used leftovers from my various projects and attached beadboard and trim to the doors painted them all white and layed a laminate floor which really warmed up the space. This is now the family kitchen she needed as she has 5 children and the space is rather small. Even my 15 yr old grandaughter helped lay the floor!, Kitchens Design

  • My Super Frugal Industrial Farmhouse Kitchen, I wanted a big farmhouse kitchen on a little budget. I saved by using open shelving on beadboard paneling instead of upper cabinets low cost industrial lighting on the ceiling plain white appliances #2 oak flooring inexpensive formica counter tops and lots of creativity. I added some yard sale finds including a big old glass door hutch and a center island that was an old hardware store counter. I got every thing I wanted and was able to do the whole kitchen for under $10K. My specialty is doing re-designs on tiny budgets.
