About This Space

We moved into this house 6 months ago. We ripped down the wallpaper, painted the cabinets, replaced the leaf patterned vinyl flooring with wood and replaced the laminate countertops with granite. Lighting is the next big challenge. The dated track lighting looks horrible and doesn't function well. thinking of doing a bunch of recessed. Its been a challenge because one overhead light will not do the job and pendents are out because we have no island to ancher them. We chose to keep the black appliances for now because they are practically new. I had stainless in my last house and loved them but they are a lot harder to keep clean with kids in the house.

What a great job, it doesn't even look like the same room. You could put pendant lights over the peninsula and recess lighting in the rest of the kitchen, I think it would
Look great with some blown glass pendants.

Very nice job. Recessed lighting on a couple of different zones might work nicely. You may also want to put them into your family room while you are at it.

I'm not particularly fond of them, but there are those kinda squiggly modern track light fixtures that might be easy and inexpensive to swap out and try... Love your kitchen update, 5 stars.

When I was reading your comments on the lighting and the challenges you had with what to do with the track lighting, my first thought was recessed lighting as well. What you have done so far has opened up the kitchen nicely making it look brighter and more appealing to be in.
