OK...so maybe black rustic cabinets are not for everyone...but I love mine. The little fingerprints from grandchildren do not show up so much. I did the kitchen layout myself...putting what was going to be an island up against the wall instead. The kitchen is not big and I did not have room for an island..so I raised the fireplace up to the counter height.....There is seating for 3 or 4 on the one side...all the cooking happens on the east side of the kitchen. The west side is for coffee and beverages. I put a small refrig. under the coffee area. There is also a small sink there and another cook can prepare food in that space too if we are having a get together. The fireplace is from Venezia Stone in Calif....the stools were on sale at Pier One Imports for $99 each....The stove is a Wolf...main refrig. is covered in the same wood as the rest of the cabinets. I did not want the stainless steel look that is so popular today. I do love that look but because you can see into the kitchen from the living room I wanted the whole thing to look more like furniture....thus, all stainless appliances are covered with the exception of the range. I was after an updated yet old world look. WWW.CAROLEMEYERART.COM
