About This Space

This is the kitchen in my new house. It's cabinets are rough wood, no sanding or anything. The flooring is some ugly brown and orange 70s style laminate, and the counter top, wow, well they are blue-er than blue and just cant be more hideous. The back splash is while tile, with some rose accents on some. To top it all off the walls are a very pale green. Needless to say this kitchen is GROSS.

much depends on the budget and the overall look you want. but, if this space were mine to change, and if the cabinetry is in solid condition, i'd try to work with it, sand, prime and paint it all in a shade of white (with a touch of gray in the base to keep the shade fresh and clean looking....brown based off white can look dingy. then eliminate the dated tile (white subway tile is always a modern but nontrendy choice, eradicate all of the orangey wood toned trim (white paint, upgrade to stone countertop (even if budget allows for a single slab at the counter area between kitchen and DR...you can do a nice butcher block elsewhere, new flooring, some great lighting, a stylish faucet and cabinetry pulls, and some newer energy efficient appliances (ss?. just be sure to extend the palette into the DR for great flow and to make both spaces seem larger and more open. be sure to keep us posted! i would LOVE to see what you do in here!
