I like your kitchen. I would switch out those 80's looking chairs tho and unclutter the counters, takes its beauty away.

It's me again. I moved into a kitchen that has the soffit treatment described and it does look good. I'd be curious how Realtor Sandy would describe this kitchen if it was one of her listings. Would she recommend changes to make it a quicker sale IF it was for sale?

I saw on here somewhere that someone had done a really neat crown molding and trim treatment on a soffit that turned out just awesome...made it look like the cabinets extended to teh ceiling. As for your floor, you might look into changing or painting the grout color to match the tiles. Changing out the vertical blinds/valance and those chairs would be easy updates.

You can make your 30" cabinets look grander if you paint the soffit the same color as the cabinets and then add crown molding (same color to the top of the soffit. Then you can invest in a counter top and back splash. Add a runner or area rug where you can if you are tired of the tile. They have chair and barstool covers that look custom made now. To me what looks dated are things that can be easily replaced/painted without having to renovate. Overall I don't agree with your kitchen designer.

You have a lovely kitchen, including the tile floor. You may want to change the countertops to granite and change the vertical blinds, but I also don't see the need for a complete makeover. Most people would love to have your kitchen.

It's your kitchen and you like it. Why are you talking to kitchen designers? Of COURSE they think you need a complete redo. What they are talking about is weeks of inconvenience (if you are lucky and tons of $$$. I think it is a lovely kitchen. The only thing that appears dated to me is the floor with the 12" tile. Do you care? Another thing that is dated but is an easy fix is the vertical blinds. I still give your kitchen an excellent rating.

Also removing the valance over the window. Looking for thoughts on hood over a freestanding range or cooktop with hood as opposed to microwave?
