when we moved in the floor was caving in. The cabinets were fifty years old and there was mold everywhere. Now we have tan/brown granite counter tops with ogee edging, I painted and overglazed the cabinets and we added stainless steel appliances. And the old floor was redo with forgiving stone look laminate. The butcher block was a feature that I bought off the previous owners.

I love the yellow cabinets. I'm not as crazy about the brown valence. I think it tries to steal your eyes away from the cabinets a little too much.

You really did a great job. Love the before and after look. I just recently did my kitchen too, completely different look then yours but you'll have to check it out.

Very French Country and I like it overall. Not nuts about the flooring. I assume budget was an issue. For my taste, there is too much stuff on those beautiful granite counters.

My Wild & Crazy Kitchen keeps me happy!!, From Mauve Counter tops and Dishrail with Hunter Green, Rust & Mauve Wallpapers... to Bright Green. My girlfriend gripped so much about my 80's kitchen that one evening, after one too many martini's she started tearing down the wallpaper. This happened at a time I didn't have the time or money to do a full blown remodel, so I learned how to lay tile (very inexpensive kind) and used a lot of paint. My inspiration was one of the dishes on the wall -- home depot matched the wall paint to the peas on the plate and I took it from there!
Still have some issues I need your opinions on.. what to do with space above microwave? Best way to hide laundr-o-mat look from W/D... Should I paint cabinets? What color? If I do, what about floor?, Kitchens Design

RMSer's Cabinet Advice Wanted??, This is my kitchen and I keep going back and forth about whether to paint our my white cabinets to keep them light and fresh. I would love your advice. I like the white cabinets against the granite, etc, but I wonder also about painting them out in a classic black, chocolate brown, or having them done with a stain finish?
