About This Space

For our kitchen remodel we chose to act as our own contractor and designer. We did everything but the floor and the granite ourselves. The entire renovation cost less than $20K including all new appliances. We gutted everything in the kitchen except for the cabinet shells and then began the process of putting it all back together. Cabinets painted with oil based satin enamal - Sherwin Williams Realist Beige. Original island was replaced with a custom built island from Kent Moore Cabinets - Maple wood finished in English Leather. Floor is handscraped hickory by Alamo in Bowie. Appliances are all stainless by Jenn Air. Granite is Bianco Antico and backsplash is Mannington Java Blend mosaic in 1" on countertops and 2" behind cooktop. The pendant lights are from Ballard Designs. The paint color on the walls is Sherwin Williams Restrained Gold, flat. Hardware is all oil-rubbed bronze from Home Depot.

I am soooooo happy with the granite. It is even more beautiful in person. Because it was the most expensive purchase in our remodel, I worried if I was making the right choice too. But when it was installed, I seriously almost cried. LOL! I LOVE it! We went to the granite yard and got to choose our slabs. I even got to tell them which part of the granite I wanted for the island, etc. Not all slabs are created equal so if you can go to a granite company that will let you choose your own slab and shop around because there is a huge variance in prices from place to place.

Hi. I just had a message on my space ('modern country meets coastal' that you were wondering if I was the same person as many others who appear on this site. Just letting you know that I am only one person and one person only! lol! I don't know why my profile didn't show my 'recent history' but I worked out that I can change it and it does now. Also, I didn't bother ever putting my town's name or my state as I am from Australia and when I first joined RMS it obviously didn't give an option to put an state in Australia! Anyway, just thought that I'd clear that up. I think I remember commenting on your lovely kitchen previously and I think it's absolutely beautiful. Its a wonderful job. I too would have to keep exposed hinges if I just replace my door fronts The depth thing. But I think it looks nice here anyway with the white style cabinets and all. Nice kitchen full of prep room and cohesiveness. As to rating Its a joke I dont even rate It just seems the jelous downrate ya anyway . I go by comments and looks like your on a good comment book here!
