We just finished kitchen remodel. we had dark and yellowish oak cabinet before, we hired contractor to do the cabinet refacing since we already had granite countertop.We added more doors on the back of peninsula to access the corner space. Lighting also has been changed. It took 2 weeks to complete those works. After that, we felt we can do more in the kitchen to make it perfect, The light over the peninsula was one recessing light, I felt it was too plain and I need some colors. After shopping around, I spent less than hundred and bought this 3-light tracking lights from Lowes, my husband installed it , it looks great! we also added mosaic tile backsplash ourselves. The tiles were bought from Home Depot. I am very proud of my kitchen, because I am the designer and my husband, whom I hired for free, did a great job on the backsplash !

Was so pleased to see a "before" kitchen that looks like mine and my husband has agreed after seeing yours that I can resurface my cabinets. Could you post the color of the cabinets. My kitchen is a dark "tube" with chocolate walls, if you can imagine, time to bring it up to date. Yours looks great.

Crazy for Design

Congratulations! You did an outstanding job on your kitchen!! I love it...I am a big DIY fan and in the process of tiling our backsplash. I have been searching the internet trying to figure out how to finish off the open sides of my mosaic tiles. My wall extends about two inches wider than the cabinets. I can see from your picture that you have taken the tile to the very edge of the cabinet and left the two inches open and painted white--which is also all the way around the doorway. Thank you for putting these pictures on the internet. You have helped me solve my first problem!!! Now, one other issue, I have been trying to decide whether I should just end the tile as such or use the thin tan metal strip as a border which was recommended to me at the hardware store. I can't tell how you finished off the edge of the tile at the end of the cabinet and also on each side of the window. Can you tell me what you did? I would greatly appreciate it!

I am so happy to see your kitchen. We just picked out our cabinets for refacing yesterday. We have dark oak, so I went with light oak craftsman style, with glass doors on one cabinet, also changed to drawers at bottom for pots and pans.I have a tendency to doubt my decisions, so after seeing your kitchen with the light wood, I know I made the right decision. It looks beautiful.

we have a small kitchen, the whole purpose here is to make the kitchen feel bigger and brighter, I think lighter color definitely works here. Thanks for your compliments!
