I have a few ideas. Because of the size of the windows and the plumbing I would probably leave the sink wall where it is. I am not in favor of L shaped counters because you really lose what in the corner. I would have prefered to close off the door and move it closer to the cupboards. But I don't know what is on the other side of the wall.Anyway I would put the refrigerator on that wall with a cupboard next to it.Then I would bring out a penninsula 3feet wide instead of the standard 2 feet wide and put bar stools under the extra foot. Do you follow? When your back is to the sink you would be facing the stove and when someone is sitting on the stool they would be facing you. If any of this makes sense to you we can discuss details later.

yes we did move the doors already actually we are just finishing up the bedroom and living room ..the insulation that was in the walls well is now powder and a real mess to get out so yes we will be taking out the kitchen walls as well. The cabinets that are in there are too narrow to even get a plate in ....IKEA....I would love too do that but I live in a rural area and I don't think there is one within 200 miles or here actually ...and yes you are right the rooms are almost all square lol I did not even think of that till you said it...sorry if I posted twice but I didn't see my first reply so ....

Thanks and yes moome its awful behind that paneling we already have done the bedroom and living room and it is worse than newspaper it is very very old blow foam that is now dust ...just awful actually so we will have to gut the kitchen as well to re insulate ect ..I wish we could go to IKEA but we live in the middle of no where so either I am thinking of putting the stove to left of the window and then make a small L with the fridge at the end I like the idea of open shelves but I don't like the idea of my dishes out in the open it seems like if I am not careful I could potentially make myself a much bigger kitchen than this house needs ...thanks so much for your input

open shelving on top may work with all drawers oon the bottom?

I had a kitchen EXACTLY like this- all rooms were square right? The fridge was in the middle of a wall & yes no dishwasher- so- take your measurments to ikea- and then shop for a dishwasher that is one drawer or the ones that go under the sink- yes they have those : You probobly have lathe ^ plaster under your paneling- so upgrade your exterior wall insulation- because it's prob. newpapers & such :-/ if you move your door ways to the ends of the walls- you'll get a little more wall space for cupboards. But I swear- Ikea will be the cheapest & nicest way to fix your kitchen. Good luck!
