We are renting right now and this kitchen was GROSS! I couldn't live with it. The dark cabinets and the green laminate counter tops had to go! If I had money (and owned the house I would have done things differently....like granite, new appliances etc. But I did what I could to make it look better and it is all done with paint. Total project cost: $17.00.

Booklady2759 - Yes the kit at Lowes does cost $200, that's why you do it yourself! Lol it is possible to DIY without a "kit" for everything -people have just forgotten how to create things themselves.

Unless you had everything donated to you, you did NOT pay $17 for this remodel. New faucet/ soap dispenser, cabinets, paint, stainless on the dishwasher...

Awesome.. I am in the middle of really doing my kitchen also but I have white appliances but wondering if this color cabinet would be ok? Thinking brown for colors on wall or tan?

Yes, how was this done for $17? The kit for painting the countertops at Lowe's is about $200. And how do you keep the water from the faucet from splashing on the joint compound and disintegrating it?

You are a gifted decorator-DIY-er. I love how it turned out, but I wonder how it cost $17. You bought 24 new brushed nickel handles, a new high-arch faucet, paint for cabinets, glaze, 3 colors for counter-tops, spackle for backsplash, sealant, new crown molding, and an arched wood valance with crown molding--- all for $17?? How did you do that?

I just love how it turned out! How are the counters holding up? I used that idea in my laundry room and well it don't get used as much as a kitchen counter.

I just saw your comment on my old kitchen space, and I was so excited, because you and this kitchen were the ones I got the inspiration from to paint my counter tops! Thanks for the idea, you seriously made a huge impact in our home! I was going to try doing the painted backsplash like yours too, but decided to quite while I was ahead, lol. Anyway, your kitchen is amazing and very inspirational. I've since moved out of our old place, so I couldn't keep going with that kitchen, but now I have a new kitchen with a new canvas.
