Our house was built in 1977 and except for new appliances when needed and new flooring, nothing had been done to update this space since. This summer, 2010, we finally got around to a much needed kitchen make over, and we did it on a $5,000 budget. The kept the original custom built cabinets and had them refaced and purchased custom made oak doors. We went with a new laminate counter top to save money, but put an oak trim around the edge to match the cabinetry. One splurge we made was purchasing a granite sink. We were also able to buy a new stove and new dishwasher. Our $5,000 budget is spent so now we are saving for a new refrigerator and microwave to match the rest of the appliances.
We love our new kitchen!
